We all know what a shit show the next four years will be. It's all just a game to the Dictator and his Ambassador of Chaos. And many of the people who voted for him know or at least deep down know that they were duped, or at the very least are beginning to understand that. But of course they won't admit it to anyone, least of all themselves. So they do their best to keep pushing false narratives, and try their best to believe they made the right choice. But eventually the cracks begin to show and they just get frustrated and angry. It would just be so much simpler to admit when you messed up and learn from the situation. I've always found that's the best thing to do anyway. And hey, let's be fair, everyone could use to do that. Democrats could do better too. The whole country is going down like the Titanic. Its time to stop fucking around and get serious about righting this ship.0

Modern arguments are so trite and fucking stupid, using memes to make a point. It's a sign of how pathetic our culture has become. And usually older generations blame the "young", but that's not really the case. Everyone's brains are going to mush at this point and old fucks are just as blame-worthy. Try to be better and make your case with, you know, actual thoughts and words.0 -

2. Undue thought control can occur to anyone by appealing to various elements of a person (fear, racism, greed, wealth, homogeny in society, etc), and it's a fallacy that only the foolish can be fooled
3. Due to polarization, people have inherent distrust of those with other beliefs to their own, and discourse is limited to echo chambers or conversations with trolls, hence no minds are swayed
4. There is no desire to think long-term, nor is there political incentive to act in long-term ways
5. Corruption masks itself as stupidity, and stupidity masks itself as corruption.
I don't believe there are cracks appearing, I believe this has been one of the best propaganda efforts probably since the Nazis, and it has worked on an alarming number of people. I'm a nihilist at this point, and don't feel you can fix widespread epidemics of apathy, greed, indecency, or corruption - especially when they're all present at the same time.
We need to learn to enjoy our local lives, because as you zoom out to a global scale, problems become more unsolvable. At least locally, we have the illusion of some control, and can choose to move towards decency.

PS - yes, I compared Trump's administration's behaviours to Nazis; and no, I don't care if anyone thinks that's an exaggeration0 -

I'm doubtful I will live to see that happen, but I'm also nearly old enough to have seen the cycle. Hitler and then the McCarthy era happened not many years before I was born, and then a better balance was created and, though far from perfect, we had some great years. And now we are in the age of MAGA where hate and greed, and indecency, and corruption rule the day. But the cycle will continue and there will be better times. Stay strong and look toward those time and be a part of the change. Don't give up, Ben. Don't let this period of time kill your spirit. Look at history and be hopeful. I can see by this..."We need to learn to enjoy our local lives, because as you zoom out to a global scale, problems become more unsolvable. At least locally, we have the illusion of some control, and can choose to move towards decency."...that you already posses some of that hope. Well done.
