    That would actually be a chess move, for once, rather than most of the other knucklehead things Trump has done.  Get him out of congress and leave him to fight for himself in the confirmation.  All while McCarthy is leaking information to the press and opposition.  

    Now the really bad side is a failed nomination for a doofus like Gaetz isn't really good press early in the admin.  So taken on balance, either a bad idea or Trump is really serious about him being AG.  Neither are comforting.

    The ethics report may or may not reveal anything significant. The word is that it would be bad for him which might have prompted this whole charade. Maybe not.

    But if Gaetz resigned due to being selected as AG that looks much better for him than resigning because of the report that is about to come out.

    The big question would be would trump do this as a favor to him? We know that Gaetz had asked for a pardon related to Jan 6 and trump didn't give him one. Or did trump get duped by Gaetz and name him without knowing what is going on with the ethics report.

    You know as well as all of us that Gaetz is not qualified to be AG. You know that there are other MAGAs that at least have the qualifications for such a position.
