But the first thought in my head is how awful it must feel if you are Ukrainian. You are likely to be abandoned and Trump will allow his daddy to steal land....crazy.
I think the odds of WWIII in our near future are way higher now, but alas.0 -

i remember vividly during the pandemic the price of chicken wings being insanely high. Then I saw on the news a year or 2 later than supply, etc normalized and bulk prices returned to pre covid levels….
BUT restaurants never reduced their menu prices and haven’t. And they never will. Inflation is high, largely because of corporate greed. Accept that.

Trump won because people thought he would do better with the economy, would better control illegal immigration, and would slow the advance of ultra woke policies. Those are your reasons that Trump won. Sure, Trump may be terrible at those things, but people vote on their perceptions of reality. So Dems need to stop saying they lose because of racism and misogyny, and work harder to convince voters that they are better in these areas.I am not sure what your point is on DEI. it is not a conceptual framework. It is common policy for many of the large American corporations, and many of us have been hurt significantly by it. it is one of the things as a Democrat the troubles me about my party
I think the heart of the issue is that we (as a society) are more inclined to hire someone who looks like us and is someone we can relate to because it makes us feel comfortable. It's an ingrained unconscious bias. The right wants to call people "woke" who recognize this unconscious bias because it means accepting some level of responsibility to why race and gender issues still exist at the level they do. I think acknowledging them is the first step towards finding a solution and actively trying to make a change.
It's a hopeless situation...0 -

White, older, "christian" men who never attended college.

And yes clearly white women and latinos are part of the equation but his overwhelming support came from white men.
They should all be ashamed for supporting so much fear, hatred, ignorance, and lies.By The Time They Figure Out What Went Wrong, We'll Be Sitting On A Beach, Earning Twenty Percent.0 -

Inflation was the biggest driver. I think "Trans Women in Sports" was a close second with the border 3rd. Harris did a terrible job of really addressing any of those, but given the economy, I don't think the party had a chance. As Project 2025 moves into implementation with the backing of the most party-loyal federal court system in US history, some people may regret their vote. By then it will be too late. Even an optimistic Dem/lib has to recognize that the next people to experience a balanced court system have not even been born yet.
This necessary downturn Elon has mentioned will probably come from a very swift firing of a million or so federal employees. Further, I'm not a federal employee but am one of several hundred thousand likely to end up unemployed in 2025 or 2026.
We're not really going to have a functioning federal government, which is part of the appeal. Trump is no longer surrounded by so many normies/establishment (depending on your POV). It's all people that want to make a big splash against wokeness, government spending, secularism, and feminism. They don't actually care about running an efficient government. They care about getting rich and, to an extent, destroying the government. I guess their contempt for federal employees will be accepted since they're lazy government workers. But Elon's one-size-fits-all belief in slashing staff is going to cause a lot of problems for the way the federal government operates along with a big spike in unemployment. He's about to become the most powerful non-governmental figure in US history.Post edited by OnWis97 on1995 Milwaukee 1998 Alpine, Alpine 2003 Albany, Boston, Boston, Boston 2004 Boston, Boston 2006 Hartford, St. Paul (Petty), St. Paul (Petty) 2011 Alpine, Alpine

Example on where it sometimes doesn't work, FDNY. They have been trying for years to get them more diversified and for whatever reason minorities have less of a desire to become firemen. That may still be race laced though but they have tried.0 -

Yeah, same hear. I keep wishing someone would shake me and wake me up. Is this real? It's absolutely embarrassing. How is it that there are actually that many shortsighted, hateful, unimaginative, stupid people in this country? How did they get that way? And I'm not saying this to be a dick. What happened to those 20 million voters in 2020? Did they die from COVID?
