Josh is great - glad he's part of the group!0

I agree that if the band thinks he's necessary, then he's necessary. He seems not only talent but enthusiastic, which is cool. Also funny to me to hear the reference to "Purple Rain". First time I listened to that song in its entirety was at St. Paul 2 last year, and I thought it was cool to cover and all but don't care for the song. I've still yet to listen to Prince's original, but when I played the boot my girlfriend thought he did an awesome job.0

I must admit I was also dubious but after seeing the band in 2022 in Amsterdam with Josh I was pleasantly surprised by how he added, not detracted from the set.

This band would not fuck around with some putz and let them in the inner circle. They realize what they have built here. Josh is an incredible musician and has many talents. He is also a great insurance policy to fill in when needed. He filled in on drums for Matt last tour when he had a personal matter.0

Yupdomjon77 said:There is literally zero downside to have all the intangibles that Josh brings on tour. Sure, Ed can be the 3rd guitar player, but he doesn't have to, and can now focus a bit more on vox. Sure, Boom plays the electric organ, but that is much different than playing keyboards. Need extra percussion, check. Really good background vocals, check. It really fleshes out the sound they are capable of in a live setting.0 -
At Chicago night 2 or Indy I would welcome him singing Buttercup backed by Stone or the whole band. I was bummed I missed it when him and Stone played it during the Pluralone opening set. Unfortunately he didn't play it at any of the shows we went to. I have watched it on Youtube and would have loved to see it live.0

You took what I said completely out of context. For what it's worth my opinion is the tickets are way too expensive for Europe.Spiritual_Chaos said:

My comment above is a musical observation. Not the same at all.

Is it the beanie?Milestone said:I like Josh Klinghoffer. Quite a bit. But my question is: Do they really need to take him on tour? Isn't it already overkill when Ed plays the 3rd guitar? Isn't Boom on keys? What's going on here? I haven't seen PJ live since 2018. Is he going to be on this tour? Thank you.0 -
It is for me... JFC, get another hat dude... change it up every now & again.bobasfeet said:

Great to have him. Doesn’t ruin any songs, and if you couldn’t see him you wouldn’t probably know he was there.0

I don't love his vocals on Purple Rain, but whatever... the guy helps round out the sound and the extra set of hands takes pressure off other people in the band and lets them play the best live shows possible.
Where's the problem?0 -

How has in not been brought up that Josh filled in for John Frusciante in RHCP? Surely you know how amazing John is. RHCP trusted the amazing Josh to fill that massage role. Josh performed admirably for what 10 years?
Do you know how hard some RHCP songs are go play? Snow? As mentioned, why does thread even exist? Josh is much much better than some of you give him credit for.
I'm VERY thankful to have a musican of his caliber contributing to the upcoming shows. How could you not be?I'm spinning, oh-oh-oh I'm spinning0 -
After what happened in Oakland, he feels a bit like an understudy. He seems extremely talented on a number of instruments. With band members getting sick and what not, he's kind of their ace up the sleeve to attempt to keep a showing going. Part of me wondered if there's long term planning there

Maybe. People love Dead and Co. which is loosely related to another band beloved by a whacky cult.Zod said:After what happened in Oakland, he feels a bit like an understudy. And yet some will still fall back on "if he is so great, then why did RHCP fire him"....ugh.MikeDigs said:How has in not been brought up that Josh filled in for John Frusciante in RHCP? I really like his album "Welcome to the Show", but his opening sets were rough! His voice definitely isn't for everyone.URthekey said:Solo….hmmm
