Wow, I’m open to all viewpoints but you just lost all credibility after stating that Chilli Peppers comparison. Are you sure you’re listening to the right album?Lifted said:
I'm definitely not a troll. I'm a paying member of the ten club and I love this band. Honestly, 6/10 might be generous now that I've played it through a few more times. Even one of my highlights, setting sun, I'm not feeling as much as I had originally thought. At this point I think the first to singles and scared of fear are probably my favorite tracks if had to pick.PJammin' said:
You can have a different opinion. 6/10 ranking comes from the trolls. That’s it. 6/10 isn’t accurate at all.bicyclejoe said:

That’s not the issue. The issue is giving it a 6. NO WAY is it a 6. That’s B.S.nicknyr15 said:

6/10? Now I feel like you’re trolling.Lifted said:My initial reaction is that this album is all over the place and has no flow. A lot of styles going on, and too many for it's own good. It definitely has it's moments, but the lows are very low. I'll give it more time, but if this isnt the worst PJ album in the catalog, it's probably only better than lightning bolt which isn't saying much.
For me wreckage, won't tell and something special were the lows. Upper hand, setting sun, scared of fear and running were my initial highlights. Waiting for Stevie has some great moments, and also some parts I'm not really fond of.
This album is a lot to digest....but for now I'm feeling a 6/10
And yes, I know my review sucks.
I thought gigaton was a return to form of sorts, particularly the first half of the album. This one is 10 steps back.
On a side note, react, respond sounds just like can't stop by the chili peppers.0

Listen to the instrumentation, it's eerily similar. Once you hear it, you can't unhear it. It's not a knock on the song....I actually don't hate it.vedpunk said:

Looking forward to everyone revisiting their opinions of this one 5 years down the road. I'm sure some will still love it...but I suspect this will be another forgettable album to most, much like the majority of their output from the past 20 years.0

Goes to show you what a great band they are when a 6/10 is the 2nd worst record they've made. Not to shabby!!
I suspect we'll read people saying it's the worst. It's been happening since Riot Act. It's an opinion. Who cares? The thing that rubs me the wrong way would be the constant barrage of the same person repeatedly telling people how terrible it is In every thread (not saying that's happening here.......yet). Just let people enjoy it. Hang out in the other non album threads. There's still plenty to talk about on this site.0

Before reading this, I independently started singing Can't Stop over React, Respond while it was playing in my head.Lifted said:

I agree, though this goes both ways with Pos/Neg takes. Stating your thoughts once is usually all that’s needed, and who knows, you might change your mind.CantKeepmedown said:The thing that rubs me the wrong way would be the constant barrage of the same person repeatedly telling people how terrible it is In every thread (not saying that's happening here.......yet). The 73 for LB doesnt mean its better or worse than the others I mentioned, when things are close its Subjective.....my point was that the sentiment that the band hasnt been relevant since Avocado ( or Yield for some) is Horseshit

It’s totally fine to not like anything you don’t like. It’s even ok to post that.
the trouble is when every time someone else says “it’s awesome” you feel the need to say “no it’s not”.
And yes it happens in the other direction too. Both sides could probably stand to take the bait less. But this one of the most exciting times we get as fans of a band, for a veteran band we may not have many of these times left. Let the people who are happy be happy. It sucks to not like the new thing lots are excited about, but maybe the move is to just sit that exchange out instead of raining on parades.Or maybe start a “I think DM blows” thread and commiserate there, and those of us who like the album can leave you in peace.

Personally, I never thought Pearl Jam has been irrelevant, and still don't. But I do think their creative juices have significantly dried up since the earlier part of the century. They're still a great band, but they've released a lot of forgettable material the past two decades. I think they would even agree with that which is probably why they tend to mainly play older material with whatever their latest album is sprinkled in every time they tour.CROJAM95 said:The 73 for LB doesnt mean its better or worse than the others I mentioned, when things are close its Subjective.....my point was that the sentiment that the band hasnt been relevant since Avocado ( or Yield for some) is HorseshitPost edited by Lifted on0

Quick reality check: This is a fan club, not a cult. People should be able to express their opinions and take a critical look at the band's music without being bullied or trolled.vedpunk said:

It’s all good. Let’s all enjoy what we like and move on. It’s beautiful outside (at least in Georgia), we are alive, and some new PJ is out. Crank it up! Or crank up some old PJ!0

I dont think im being overly negative. Simply sharing my thoughts on the new material. Isn't that kind of the point of this board? You're the one constantly berating people in every thread who dont love the whole album. I dont even hate it, i just strongly dislike a few songs and dont really vibe with the album as a whole. Before this, all I was talking about was the music.vedpunk said:
