Bummer, huh? They had no choice but to allow humanitarian aid rather than just let those damn women and children starve to death. Funny though, he didn't mention the aid barely scratches the surface of what they need."During the meeting, Defense Minister Yaov Gallant was pressed on why the government agreed to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza from Egypt before the hostages have been returned.----------------------
“The Americans insisted and we are not in a place where we can refuse them. We rely on them for planes and military equipment. What are we supposed to do? Tell them no?” Gallant responds"
Gaza’s 2.3 million Palestinians, half of whom have fled their homes, are rationing food and drinking dirty water. Hospitals say they are running low on medical supplies and fuel for emergency generators amid a territory-wide power blackout. Five hospitals have stopped functioning because of fuel shortages and bombing damage, the Hamas-run Health Ministry said.
Doctors reported using sewing needles to stitch wounds, and using vinegar as a disinfectant until the shops ran out. With anesthesia running low, the screams of patients could be heard during surgery.
Doctors Without Borders said Gaza’s health care system is “facing collapse.”

Declared war against Islam? That seems like a hair-trigger response to the operation that was carried out, Mick. They declared war against Hamas, a terrorist organization, as defined by the US State Department since 1997. I imagine this is the exact type of response Hamas hoped for when they strategically placed their “underground terror compound” beneath a mosque. If Israel declared war against Islam, that would be MAJOR “breaking” news.

I just don't get how Israel's leaders- both government and military- can expect us to stand with them in their desire to remain an autonomous nation (an understandable and reasonable desire) while they continue to commit war crimes against innocent people (especially women and children who have nothing to do with this fighting), and at the same time only begrudgingly allow a trickled of humanitarian aid into Gaza. WTF are they thinking?

I have not seen any source corroborate your earth shattering claim of war being declared on Islam. Again, that would be MAJOR news that nobody could ignore.
and they miraculously left the mosque unharmed? gtfoh

Most Israelis think Netanyahu responsible for failing to prevent Hamas attack, poll shows
ReutersOctober 20, 20235:34 AM PDTUpdated 2 days agoJERUSALEM, Oct 20 (Reuters) - As many as 80% of Israelis believe Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu must take responsibility for the security failures exposed by the devastating Oct. 7 assault on Israeli by Hamas, a poll in the Ma'ariv newspaper showed on Friday.
The army chief of staff, the head of military intelligence and the head of the Shin Bet intelligence service have all admitted their services failed to prevent the attack, in which some 1,400 Israelis were killed on the deadliest day in Israel's 75-year-old history.
Let's not forget, a lot of Palestinian lives could have been saved as well. It's a Clusterfuck Middle East.

FiveBelow said:So, an operation carried out against the group that war was waged against is seen as declaring war on Islam (to only you, apparently) because a mosque sustained collateral damage? Gotcha. I’m sure the press will corroborate your fantasy in no time.I think there's a lot more going on in this war than just a war on religion- like most wars, it is also about resources, border lines, and power, but I certainly would include religion as a factor in why this war is being wages. It's one of the longest standing factors.Speaking of wars- goddamn, this place has been hostile lately. Nasty, angry, spiteful, bating, sarcastic, bitter- seen it all here. Like there isn't enough hostility and hate in the world already? And not just here. Everywhere. FiveBelow said:You’re right, Brian. There is a lot going on in this war, and I know I’m not qualified to claim the reasoning behind any of it. When I see “they have now declared war against Islam” my attention is drawn, because if verified, that ramps things up quite a bit. I strongly disagree with that statement, given the specific information that evoked it. Rarely do I feel the need to enter into these conversations (because of the reasons you listed), this just happened to be one of those occasions.Yeah, I hear you FB, about sometimes not being inclined to enter in here. Sometime I almost feel the need to say, "My name is Brian and I'm an AMT addict". One the reason I do keep coming back is because with my no longer working outside the home (and even then, only part time when I want to) and my limited experience with forums, this is the only place I go where people regularly talk about current events. This place is flawed, but as my wife once said, "Well, we're all a bit damaged."Sorry if I came across as incorrigible or overly animated. It just all seems so whirly these days, this crazy mixed up world."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0
