listening trough dragonfly cobalt via USB on desktop and through dongle on phone and the phone sounds like a completely different song

I don't have that problem. But then I also have a specific "scene" I've programmed in my AV receiver for Hi-Res Music, with the levels tweaked. I think center channel is reduced a bit from film/tv levels and surrounds are boosted a little. Plus no sound processing or anything. Maybe because of that, I don't have the issue with Ed's voice. Hell I am not even sure if Josh Evans uses the center channel, so it could just be something that I don't notice on my system.

Funny you say that. I've been listening to DSOTM, Wish You Were Here and Animals in 5.1 the last few days. Atmos would be awesome too but the 5.1 mixes are stunning. Especially Animals.

Sorry, I know nothing about the 360 mix. I don't really care about "spatial" music in headphones, only music on a surround home theater speaker setup.

And they dropped Yield in Atmos today! I am working but I managed to take a peek at a few songs. Sounds really good on my home theater system. More open and better fidelity. Jack's drums sound amazing. So far a more subdued and subtle mix than No Code.

Hopefully someday they will release a 4K BluRay Audio disc that will include all their albums.

This is what fans of 5.1 have been enjoying for over 20 years, and fans of quadraphonic sound were enjoying in the 1970s. The Alan Parsons quad mix of Dark Side of the Moon is the go to version of the album for me, but I look forward to hearing the Atmos mix as soon as I can figure out whether my bank will give me a loan to buy the deluxe edition.

I’m finally listening to some Atmos PJ through Amazon Music. I started with the new Yield release and it’s pretty cool. There are a few places where it’s just stunning (All Those Yesterdays with building voices all around you) and then places where things just get weird (In Hiding guitar leads overpowering the choruses). And then the most disappointing that Given to Fly isn’t available in Atmos. What gives Amazon?

what did everyone else think about the experience?

One more random experience…. “Sometimes” in Atmos!! Not a track that I had expectations for but that low end rumble and water trickle(?) effect is really cool.
