Looking thru this thread, so many people have no fucking clue what “one hit wonder” means.

No offense intended, Dyer, but maybe inform instead of scold?
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

Aw, I feel bad about putting Matthew Sweet in the same category as Right Said Fred and Chumbawumba. He's a well-regarded musician, did a lot of work with Lloyd Cole IIRC. I guess it depends on how we're defining "best"? Because he's a very talented guy, not a novelty act.
Lloyd Cole is a name I haven’t thought of in a while. He is married to my friend’s sister, Beth. I went to their wedding with my friend. Feels like a lifetime ago.

After PJ, I've seen Lloyd live more than any other artist, starting with a small show in San Francisco in the early 90's that was plagued with drunk pirates. Great songwriter, got to meet him once or twice after shows -- seems like a nice guy.

Don't think this one was mentioned (although this was more of a minor one hit wonder though). The Caufields- "Devil's Diary"

I'm no rocket surgeon, but i'm guessing he means bands that had 1 hit in the 90's.

Top 3 offenders I've seen are:
    Pavement
    Mazzy star
    Eels

    It's still not good though...

They actually had another song that was.  I was shocked to learn it was them.

Never really considered them a one hit wonder (mainly cause I like them a lot) but I guess you can say Gravity Kills is considered one with "Guilty"

    Shakespear's Sister - Stay
Their only real hit, but the whole album was great. Was lucky to see them live back in the day.
1991- Hollywood Palladium, California with Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains -RIP Magazine Show Oct. 6th
    1992- Lollapalooza, Irvine, California
    Nothing since then. I suck.
2016- Fenway Park, Boston - Both glorious nights
    2022- Oakland Night 2

I guess technically The Bloodhound Gang's "The Bad Touch" is a one hit wonder. They did have a few minor hits though with "Fire Water Burn" and "Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo".

it was? Like i said in the other thread I wouldn't really call this a "hit". I don't think I ever heard this on the radio or even being played on MTV. Ok song I guess.

Really?  It was definitely played on MTV and the radio.  I liked this song better than Bad Touch and that was a banger and funny as hell song.

"Im talking about Falco and shit"  man that cracked me up.

I remember that one, plus fire water burn was everywhere in 1996. Gonna have to DQ Bloodhound Gang.

How bout primitive radio gods. Standing outside a phone booth blah blah blah.

Seems 1995 - 1998 was rife with one hit wonders since mainstream music was aimless between the death of grunge and the surge of boy bands/female pop stars.

I'd put Belly on the list.  Feed the Tree is the only thing I can recall from them.  The rest of the album was unlistenable to me.

I know Spacehog was a one hit band, but I really enjoyed that entire album. Surprised they never got that second radio hit, because I listened to that CD all the way through so many times.

A few of the guys in Spacehog lived in my neighborhood as they were coming up. I saw them a few times in smaller venues and got to be friends with the drummer. He was a really nice guy. I remember going to a party at the guitar players apartment once. Then of course, I lost touch with them as they got bigger, and the lead singer married Liv Tyler.

Had to look this one up. Although the album it's on came out in 1989, the single wasn't released until 1990.
