    I thought the same. They moved a giant cement dome over it that was supposed to last like 50 years and are in the process of planning the upgrade.
    So I don’t know what staff were evacuated. A few decades too late for that.

    It is not but its still spewing radiation and needs clean up as well as monitoring. I have a friend who is a robotic engineer and he toured the site in a competition to come up with a solution to cleanup and contain the mess. His idea didn't win. Its going to be with us for a long, long time.

    Just looked it up. The new structure was built in 2020 and this one is supposed to last 100 years. Then they’ll just cover it with more cement I guess.
