all of these great shows require a certain level of suspension of reality expectation though. 24, Homeland, Ozark, none of these shows would really happen. But it's super entertaining.

I didn't love it.  I want to, it's just getting too outrageous. I enjoyed it, don't get me wrong and I guess it was always unrealistic, but yeah, just feel like it's all exaggerated

    Team Ruth though
I love it, but agree it is all way to over the top.

No way a cartel leader is coming to the US to do what Javi is doing.  No way the CEO will buy from the cartel vs let the company just go under.  I would expect that the suppliers to big pharma would figure out pretty quick where it is actually coming from.  Can go on and on…
Yeah this part was really befuddling to me.

Ha.  Diapers are standard issue for counter terrorism.

“Airplane” was more true to reality.  Taking smoke breaks, sniffing glue breaks, meth breaks, etc….  Bodily functions didn’t take a pause for a few hours.

Normally, I try to not be in the habit of picking apart every little inaccuracy and everything that the viewer needs to suspend a little disbelief for...

But this show is getting a bit hard to look past it all, and hard to not roll my eyes more often.

Not sure why this family is allowed to have their way with the Mexican Cartel, the FBI, KC Mob at one point, a major pharmaceutical company, midwest aristocrats and the political machine, all while constantly screwing up and getting all the parties deeper into the shit.  Like the FBI could have (and has had plenty of cause to) tap their phones and in one day had enough incriminating evidence to probably take down the Byrds, the Cartel, a major pharmaceutical CEO, a hillbilly who is clearly killing people unmolested and growing an industrial level of poppies/heroin in visibility of a casino, etc.  But instead, they need to play along with the Byrds to stop a shipment of weapons.  "Oh, here you go.  have $150 million guys!"

I do like the show, and it is fairly entertaining to see where it all fleshes out, but IMO it isn't nearly as neatly packed as other similar anti-hero shows in the same type of genre

I just hope they don't waste an episode on dream sequences or flashbacks.  Keep the story moving forward.  I will never, ever stop hating Bloodline because they wasted an entire episode on a dream sequence in the final season.

The first scene of the new season hasn’t happened yet and it looked like a big happy family in the car

    Yeah all of this.

And the cartel would have them all dead in 4.2 seconds

Damnit!  The whole damn Part I of S.4 was a flashback since it started in the future.  You've ruined this for me!

I don't get that but to each their own.....I think the series is great.

Breaking Bad was a stretch as well but still a great show.

The whole Breaking Bad show as a huge stretch. Still one of the best ever.

I've always felt Ozark is a stretch too, they're just ramping things up a couple notches as they inch towards the end. Great television .

This feels much more Sons Of Anarchy to me than Breaking Bad.  Yes, Breaking Bad was a stretch, but EVERYTHING in this is a huge stretch at this point.

Did we forget how a cop goes missing and the FBI fails to mention it to the only cartel connected person in a small town?

Sure, Breaking Bad (and Saul) was a stretch... but still the characters acted as you would expect them to reasonably act, and they insulated everything well... like how Fring had his public persona and dealing with the DEA as a friend and all that.  It was very believable he could operate under their noses.  It was believable that the Hank would never come close to considering his brother in law was heisenberg.  The worst part was probably the plane crash at the end of Season 2.

This season of Ozark?  JC.  People are just dying and disappearing everywhere and nobody cares or can connect them to a few people. Especially the Sheriff.  Wendy giving the FBI the threat with a really mean face to get her way was hilarious.  The FBI agent going rogue with a huge team and arresting the cartel leader?
Why would Javier cut a deal with the FBI with no prior contact with them?  They build Omar up to get to that point over the past few seasons, but this seemed lazy, and again, unreasonable.  Javier should have/would have just killed Marty in 2 seconds like he does everybody else.

Its tough.  I was totally on board.  Even loved the first episode this season... but by the time I got through the 7th I was laughing.
The fact that the Byrds are in the middle of this and manipulating all these power brokers with some sort of un-seen leverage has past the point of absurdity.

I don't know man. I was laughing at the Breaking Bad premise, while still enjoying the show, from start to finish. We're supposed to believe a middle aged science teacher turned into the biggest, baddest meth dealer in the country overnight? Meanwhile his brother in law DEA agent is winning awards, climbing the ladder at the FBI and garnering all kinds of praise yet doesn't catch on to Walt until the very end? Lol. Lots of shows are like this.

This is why nothing has topped The Wire as the number 1 show of all time yet.

I have a friend who can't help but analyze movies as they go and he enjoys the movies less because of it.  I view it almost like a curse.  We are escaping reality with tv and movies, not trying to get more of it.

I kind of try to view the events in the context of the entire show. If the show's premise is and of itself kind of absurd, then that's the starting point. If the events in the show are absurd in our world but could happen within the absurd normalcy of the show's universe, I think it works.

there's a reason why things that happen in real life that are unbelievable are often described as "...like a plot from a movie/tv show..."

This is a great point!  I think maybe this is why it might bother me in this case?  Ozark was a pretty well put together and somewhat plausible show, or at least you can set a few things aside that move the plot along.  Last season when the FBI was in the casino, you felt on pins and needles because the smallest slip-up would have blown the tower of cards down.

But this season it seems to have devolved into a sloppy mess, where the Byrds seem to have some sort of non-leveraged hold over the most powerful people/organizations and dragging them all down, while the actual power-brokers are seemingly unable to just cut the Byrds out, which would probably make everyone's problems go away.

I always felt that way about the Brady Bunch. Totally not believable how the boys weren't banging the girls and Mike wasn't banging Alice.
