We watched the final 3 episodes last night. Not sure how I feel about the ending, to be honest. Wendy drove me crazy....not a fan of hers. I could see them doing a prequel---about the Langmores.
Good show overall & very well done.
I could actually see a "Camino" type of movie for the aftermath.
Anyways. I didnt hate the ending. People dont hate it so it means they did a good job. For the most part, people hate the ending of 90% of popular shows.
I still really struggled over the last season or 2 understanding what use any of these people have for the Byrds and how everyone is clearing everything through them. FBI, Cartel bosses, Ruth, Claire/Shaw, all these political donors gifting hundreds of millions for some reason at that gala, etc. The Byrds just seem like an unnecessary and inconvenient middle-man who has betrayed every player in this several times, and other times has been incompetent. Their involvement didnt seem necessary or plausible. I really wasnt buying that they had any sort of leverage on anyone at all.
I do think the 2nd half of the last season was better than the 1st half which was getting silly.

I was kind of expecting the last 15-20 minutes or so be some sort of end-of life happy-ending delusion from Marty's brain and the end would be them all dying in the car wreck. Being unscathed after such a violent car wreck was kind of silly, but I guess I can appreciate the microcosm it represented.
I am appreciative and admire that they didn't take the easy way out, ruth gets a leg up on the Byrds, they go to jail or are killed, and ruth lives happily ever after.
finished it last night finally. the way they lead up to ruth's demise made it pretty obvious; her life was going too well. I wasn't sure Camilla was going to do it. I thought she'd order it.
I was ok with the ending, but ending it with all the Byrdes completely unscathed....I don't know. I thought it might end with Jonah getting killed and it being wendy's or grampa's fault or something like that. Then Ruth losing it and offing Wendy or grampa. or wendy finally getting her comeuppance independently.
But I guess that was the foreshadowing of the car accident. They basically spelled it out in the dialogue too with Wendy and the priest.
that sam character arc was kind of filler though. not sure of the point.
and what kind of idiot steals the evidence to a murder and confronts the murderers alone about it, with evidence in hand? at night? on their property? that part was kinda dumb. He had to have known they'd fucking kill him.
still loved the show. finales to shows like that are nearly impossible to pull off to mass acclaim.

They get in a major car accident, nobody stops to help, they come home in a cab, carry on like nothing happened, no aches and pains
Wendy won't leave the mental hospital until her kids come and Marty threatens to tell on Ruth..... why didn't they just hold their breath and stomp their feet.....
And I hate series where ghosts are brought in. The dreams and ghost sequences on the Sopranos were some of the worst episodes
Anyway, as much hate as Wendy got, she played a great role. Her father was a piece of work too
The kids were already turning into their parents

After not liking the first half of the season, I really liked the 2nd half and am fine with the ending, though kinda team wish wendy died. Agree with mayday that my main fault is that I didn’t really give a shit about any of their fates, except Wendy and Ruth, in opposite ways
I don’t remember music being such a big part of it before. All the rap music was awesome and kinda part of the story…liked the angel from Montgomery scene
What I thought was going to happen would have been a Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels ending where all the others kill each other and the Byrds walk away. For sure I knew they were killing Navarro. I thought for sure that Navarros guy was taking out his sister. I would have been good with that ending.

So I guess Three owns the casino's now?
haha, never thought of that.

This is what I said to my wife about Three last night!

If they pick it back up it will be an interesting angle?
Something else I thought was weird but cool was when Killer Mike was randomly in the diner. I did like his take on the NAS album though. What he says if you aren't familiar w the area is "He can see Manhattan from his project. It was so hopeful and fucking cruel at the same time."
NAS was from Queensbridge and you can see the Manhattan Skyline form the Queensbridge park and Projects. I thought that was neat being from NY. A better life was just on the other side of that water way...
