    I lived in the Colorado mountains for 4 years with bears being an almost daily occurrence and the occasional mtn. lion. Never felt the need to carry. Ran, biked, and or hiked on a daily basis. Never needed to carry.

    Living in fear is no way to live.
    But you would agree that someone who is not as experienced as you in those situations might feel the need to carry a weapon to fight off a bear right? I mean we've all seen the Revenant.

    I've hiked Alaska, California, Texas, AZ, you name it.  I wanted to carry in AZ because I could.  I don't live in fear either.  Man this horse is getting righteous...

    As I was told early on...if the bear or lion is that close it's  too late.
    But yes with a gun you have at least a fighting chance.

    Hiking in Sequoia I was making noise w my water bottle and jingling my keys.  My GF didn't understand why.  She said "nothing is going to get us" which I replied, that is the idea.

    I believe he left the dealership that he was "protecting" because someone called him for help to put out a dumpster fire that someone had started. The police wouldn't let him pass to go back to the dealership so he ended up somewhere else...at a different dealership it turns out, and shot the first guy.  Then he started running because people were chasing him to alert police that he was the shooter.

    Oh please don’t get me wrong, the kids was wrong and has to serve some kind of time for sure, but the surviving victim also indicated he was there to help medically so why carry or at the very least keep it holstered. He claims he wasn’t there to “citizen arrest” (my words not his) anyone.  I understand carrying for safety but I really question his reason for being there. 

    I also take issue with him looking at the jury every time he answered a question when someone on here claimed Rittenhouse did that as well.  Is it true you have to look directly at who asked you the question?  I don’t know the law.  I just think all medical personnel should firstly “do no harm” just like the oath doctors take. 
    I think all are to blame. There’s always 3 sides to every story - his, his, and the truth.
     I also think I’m just numb to the extent of not giving a crap anymore.

    One piece of evidence that the prosecution wasn't allowed to introduce (the one the judge yelled at him for when he brought it up on Wednesday) was video of Rittenhouse talking about shooting looters at some point prior to the incident.

    Prosecutors say that the video shows Rittenhouse watching some men exiting a CVS store and then commenting that he wishes he had his rifle so he could shoot them. It was filmed 15 days before the Kenosha shootings.
    A voice that sounds like Rittenhouse says one of the men coming out of the store appears to be armed, the Journal Sentinel reported. Then, he says, “Bro I wish I had my (expletive) AR. l’d start shooting rounds at them.”

    Wolves: 2 deaths

    Lightening kills ~50 people EACH year.

    You're way more likely to be struck by lightning then attacked by an animal while hiking. What are you going to do, shoot the clouds?

    When I went hiking I carried.  I should have been more specific.  It was for defense of a rogue wild animal, not a person.  I never carried in groups of people.

    Lightening kills ~50 people EACH year.

    You're way more likely to be struck by lightning then attacked by an animal while hiking. What are you going to do, shoot the clouds?

    So much potential yet so much destruction.  I wish we could turn that around somehow.  Civilization has been around for about 50,000 years, so maybe by the year 52021 we will have figured it out.

    I’d venture a guess that almost every one of those deaths caused by land animals is while hiking and almost none of those lightning deaths are while hiking
