If someone has an encounter while hiking it’s likely you stumbled upon and startled the animal and you and your gun has no chance…a grizzly, big cat or other predator will take you out if they choose too…but they might show you mercy.

Either way carry bear spray if concerned.  People should be able to hike free from gun idiots worried about the very, very rare instance a predator attacks a human..

I didn't grow up around guns so I guess my parents to his mom isn't a great comparison but I cannot imagine my parents dropping 17-year-old me off at a protest armed...regardless of the legality of the gun I was bringing, the cause, where we stood on the issue(s), etc. A parent's job is not to send their kids to fight for Our Way of Life; it's to protect their kids from being put into dangerous situations.

I wasn't even allowed to have a bb gun. Or a dirt bike.

I wasn't even allowed a squirt gun...my mom was very attuned to the desensitization to guns...I think I got one eventually, but she was dragged kicking and screaming. That's the only toy gun I ever could have had.

I had toy guns and a cap gun but just no bb gun.

When I turned 18 I bought a pellet pistol that used those gas cartridges. That was fun for a few days. It was probably some weird "hey you can't stop me now" type of thing.

I never did buy a motorcycle, etc. Good call mom.

i have a feeling this ends in a hung jury.

it has been too politicized and people's opinions are too deeply entrenched for 12 people to be objective about it.

very possible...I can't imagine all 12 agreeing to even reckless endangerment

If thats the case, is the whole trial a hung jury, or just the charges they don't agree on?
