EVERY store does that now...bbiggs said:$700?! Where are you located? That is ridiculous for a retail store to mark up a bottle to secondary pricing (or above). I paid $59.99.0 -
If my local store starts doing that then I guess I'd stop drinking allocated bourbon. F that nonsense.

Which is why I don't buy anything marked up anymore.bbiggs said:If my local store starts doing that then I guess I'd stop drinking allocated bourbon. F that nonsense.0 -
Can't blame you. We believe in the same philosophy of paying retail only. Secondary isn't in my vocabulary for bourbon.tempo_n_groove said:

I'm in Phoenix. All the local shops play the secondary game. My only shot at an allocated bottle is through Total Wine's twice a year release to those of a certain "status level".
I don't do secondary either. At times, I'll see something good and if it's marked up $10-20, I'll def consider it. Beyond that...it's a big no.0 -
I might switch back to Cognac...0

Still waiting for my first bottle of Weller FP. I'm assuming stores in my area have to settle for split cases of it, so my best shot might be a store pick someday. Someday...0

If you see one for retail anywhere, it's a def purchase.
And...
If your in a store that is selling it for retail, grab as many as you can, and look around at other stuff, because if they are selling it for retail, they might have some other gems selling for retail.0 -
At my store we sell everything for retail.mca47 said:

However, all of the unicorns are no longer made available for sale. They all go behind the bar and are sold by the pour. This way more people get to try them.0 -

Blantons being rare is a manufactured problem by them. They started to allocate them to perceive scarcity.Gern Blansten said:I have an FB friend that works in a liquor store near Columbus, OH. I've never seen that much Blantons on a shelf.
Good stuff though if you can find it.0 -
I'm in Indy and have never seen it on a shelf. A year or so ago I was in Meijer and someone told me that he had seen someone with 6 bottles in their cart which likely cleared off the supply. I have noticed that Meijer still has a price tag and shelf space for Blantons but I've never seen anything in it.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

Update... I toured Buffalo trace on Thursday. The gift shop was full of blanton's so my wife and I each grabbed a bottle. They only let you buy a bottle every three months there.
We got a sample during the tour. I would say it is very good for a $67 bottle but I wouldn't pay secondary price fit for it. I was pleasantly surprised with the taste though.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

Blantons is great for the price. Paying over retail is just dumb though.Gern Blansten said:Update... I toured Buffalo trace on Thursday. The gift shop was full of blanton's so my wife and I each grabbed a bottle. They only let you buy a bottle every three months there.

Did they offer anything rare at the distillery?0 -
No....just the "rare to me" Blanton's. I think the Buffalo Trace bourbon is available every day and then the special bottles change every few days. Taylor/Eagle Rare/Blanton's/Weller/Staggtempo_n_groove said:

Congrats on finally scoring some! It feels great to eventually find something you've been searching for. I scored a Weller Full Proof today for $50. I was just saying that I'd probably never have the chance to buy one. Then lo and behold, my local shop got a case and one had my name on it. Beyond excited! But I'm gonna let it look pretty on the shelf for a week or three before I crack it open...Gern Blansten said:Update... I toured Buffalo trace on Thursday. Damn, that's a good find indeed! Was it because you had a relationship with the store, or was it right place-right time?exploderball said:
