I think that line was meant for more emotional baggage, instead of physical belongings.  But I digress.  Carry on.

Quality of the vinyl comes down to 2 things

    1. How its cut (Source and the vinyl mastering engineer can make a huge difference)
    2. Where its pressed. Certain plants just do an OK job while others do a phenomenal job (Is the vinyl flat? quiet - meaning no pops skips or crackles)

Color doesn't really make a difference (certain split colors, or tri/quad color pinwheel can lead to issues because of how the biscuit needs to be assembled). So really it comes down to personal taste.

Personally clear and coke bottle are my favorite single colors.

I would guess the people complaining only want something exclusive rather than a new colored vinyl.
I want a well working fanclub.

How many eyeballs saw that newsletter etc before it went out?
Fan club does work well. And probably a lot fewer eyes on that than you think.

or if you just want to pound your chest and say look what I got.
That’s right...or, as I like to call it, “collecting vinyl.”

If you think it’s stupid that’s fine, but it’s a hobby for a lot of people, including a lot of
    members of this fan club.
No collecting vinyl is cool. Not so much pounding your chest. If it is the vinyl you want, what difference does it make? You collect vinyl, you got vinyl and the chance to buy it here or in store. That sounds like win win.

I wish they would focus on your two points. Ten deserves an AAA release.

Unless you are hoping it is limited and you want its value to go up or if you just want to pound your chest and say look what I got. Purple vinyl of a record we have heard a zillion times.
No the bigger issue is if we had known the truth, we could have gotten it for at least $11 cheaper from Target and used it was part of their Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale right now.
Yes, it would bother me that I spent an extra $11 to buy from the 10C rather than Target. It would bother me for about 5 minutes.

    Agreed.

Have Chris Bellman cut the catalog from the original tapes/Hi-Res files, press at RTI or QRP on 180g. Call them the audiophile edition.

My point is that the difference between “pounding your chest” and whatever you think the cool version of collecting is is in the eye of the beholder. Vinyl junkies have been known to lose their shit over much smaller things than this, but words like “exclusive” mean quite a lot and using them properly is pretty much the least we can ask of this club.

You are right about that, but it is nothing new.10C has been imperfect for a long time.

True, but one of the things it is good at is selling members-only exclusive vinyl (I’m not talking about the singles; I mean the Vault series which is a model for how these sorts of things should be offered).

I get it, we all want the holy grail. It is limited and you were able to buy it for $18.  Whats the problem? It is not like saying exclusive would turn a purple Ten into Benaroya.

How many different colors of Ten does a person need?  It just continues to be money grab anymore. I’m glad I didn’t buy this.

I think it would have been better for them to word it something like "We've partnered with Target on a limited edition purple pressing of Ten and we'll be selling a limited allotment exclusively to Ten Club members." They've done that with RSD releases and the like.
It’s really this simple. It was worded very poorly by 10c.

Not that I care as I own Ten in about 8 different versions already. I definitely don’t need another fucking version just because it’s purple. Why not repress something that hasn’t been readily available?  Benaroya, live on 2 legs, rearviewmirror...
    Why Ten again?!?

Eh, many collectors enjoy collecting variants. They like having every pressing or all the colored pressings. Its a thing. Just like anything else.

Its well established in PJ circles that people like having a collection. For most people, yeah, you only need one copy.

I am good with it working 90% of the time.  It is a $20 fan club, not a bank.
