    Well you guys did a real good job of getting my hopes up about a candidate that I didn't really like and felt had no chance of winning...now here we are with a close election that should be a slam dunk.  I can't help but feel that a more energetic candidate, be it someone untested like mayor Pete or whoever would have been better....one thing is clear...Trump expanded his base, the polling was off and if Covid didn't happen Trump would be enjoying a landslide right now.

    The Dems just don't have a deep bench right now. And while Biden seemed old for 78, I don't think they had 1992 Bill Clinton or 2008 Barack Obama around. Unfortunately, I think the only Dems that can overcome the electoral college are once or twice in a generation people. For about two seconds, I thought that might be Beto; he had some of that energy and he almost won a Texas senate seat. But he just fizzled out. I'd say mayor Pete has some of that but I don't think he'd have stood a chance for a few reasons.  To me, the most qualified candidate was Elizabeth Warren, but she didn't stand a chance, either.

    And you're right about COVID. I think some Covid fatigue helped Trump over the last couple of months. But without it, he doesn't have a pretty big failure in his most high-profile crisis. All he has is a strong economy.  I'd say that's the only reason this thing hasn't been called yet.

    No reason to stay up. Nothing will be known for hours/days. Just very disappointed in this country. Here in MN we set another daily record for COVID and we're now hovering around 10% positivity rates, but people want 4 more years of "it'll be gone after the election". Fuck the selfish idiots.

    If Biden holds on to Arizona he needs to send a colossal thanks to Mark Kelly who generated excitement and likely dragged him across the finish line. There’s a reason the Trump campaign if freaking out about AZ, it’s a game changer that could decide the presidency. Regardless of what happens tonight Kelly should be considered a potential presidential candidate in ‘24.

    It’s going to take a few days. The earliest absentee ballots can be processed is Nov. 2, which likely does not leave enough time to count them all by election night. The secretary of state estimates that it could take until Friday, Nov. 6, for all ballots to be counted and a winner to be declared.

Despite not being able to process absentee ballots until Election Day (which originally stoked fears of a delayed count), many counties say they will be able to count everything on election night: Washington County plans to have all results by 10:30 p.m. Eastern; Kenosha, Sheboygan and Fond du Lac by 1 a.m. Eastern; Waukesha County by 4 a.m. Eastern; and Milwaukee County sometime between 4 and 7 a.m. Eastern. The governor has predicted that we will know the outcome of the election “hopefully that night and maybe at the latest the very next day.”
