I hate the argument that they should raise the AP prices much more. It’s a balance. You are just feeding the rich collectors at a certain point and not giving the little guy a shot to get one at an affordable cost
I don't know, do rich art collectors bother with rock posters? I consider them art but to the serious collector's they're not really fine art worth putting in their portfolio. I'd say the market for rockabilia is mostly dominated by mouthbreathing boomers who show up at record conventions and want $1000 for a Jennifer Lopez cardboard cut out. I've seen this happen.

SEs are for the little guy. That's what I buy.

And yes, I was into that JLO cutout. I was single at the time.

Agreed, if you want a poster signed by the artist, be prepared to pay for it.

Did anyone see how Tool's poster artists handled the poster AP sales in the last year? They were printed in super limited runs, and the artists let ebay set the market for their APs. Who can blame them?

Alex Gray was getting $300+ for his APs and they still sold out in a heartbeat.

Prints signed by the band were reselling for upwards of $1K so artists added remarques to posters and sold them for $500 - $750 and the demand was still through the roof.

I applaud the artists getting all they can; I would rather see them get the money then some scrub doing nothing but cruising the internet.

Agree 100%. Especially in this economy I want to see every dollar possible going to the artists.

Artists don't get paid for the SE I believe.  I think they get paid from sales of the AP.  Might as well sell for market then.

Got a Baltimore AP, original. Variants were cool but too steep.
