Im surprised only because it was so obvious and the only news on right now they had to know they’d immediately be called out on it. And they were. Wouldn’t be surprised on a smaller story that might slip through unnoticed.

Didn’t Brian William’s get fired from being the NBC nightly news host for his on air embellishments of on the ground reporting? And faux news regularly misrepresents facts and is considered “America’s Number One Source for News?” Yea, both sides are the same.

Trigger Warning: This is not going to be a popular post.

This week, I have taken the stance of "BE the change you want to see in the world." One change I want to see in the world is for people to be open to other views, to listen to opinions that they don't hold, to try understanding to the best of their ability even if they don't agree.  In order for that to happen, I have to BE that person. After arguing with my nutty brothers and their wives for several hours yesterday about fake news and media consipracy theories at my mom's birthday party (my poor mom), I decided to try an experiment this week -- Fox News will be the only network I watch for one whole week.

So this morning (Sunday), I've been watching Fox News for about two hours, and I have yet to hear anything I wouldn't hear on CNN and MSNBC about the protests and police reform. For example, a reporter in Seattle described CHAZ as a peaceful experiment in social cooperation. Several panelists critiqued the president's use of Twitter to enflame his base. At least three African Americans -- a former police officer, a spokesperson from the Urban League, a Fox news anchor -- have posed the same critiques of policig that I would read on the police thread here. Right now, the anchor is interviewng a DEMOCRATIC mayor from Cincinnati about reform in his city. The reporter has not one single time interjected with any kind of push-back or accused him of distorting facts. She asked her questions, let him speak, thanked him for joining. It's almost shocking to me that this kind of reporting even exists anymore, and I found it on Fox on my first day trying.

I imagine when it comes evening time and Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity make their appearances, I will see an entirely different thing. Don't doubt it for a minute. But I will pull a both-side-ism here and readily defend a comparison of those two whack jobs to Rachel Maddow, who in my opinion is the left's version of their brand of commentary. I can't stand Rachel Maddow and refuse to watch her show. I'd rather watch Don Lemon or Chris Cuomo than Maddow, and that's not saying much beacuse both of them are drama-infused news stylists, not serious analysts. Pretty much during the 9:00 ET hour, I watch Shark Tank because the options on Fox or CNN or MSNBC are so horrible.

I can hear my critics already, and I'm not here to try to change anyone else's opinion about Fox. I'm just reporting what I have seen and concluded in a two hour time frame on a random Sunday morning. I have come to the conclusion after years of being that person who *tries to* synthesize and bring opposing arguments together to form new understandings -- it's despairingly impossible to get anyone to budge an inch in today's climate. For our nation it will probably not happen in my remaining lifetime, if this country survives it at all. I can only change myself, and I'm courageously willing to be one of the first people to emerge from my trench with my hands up, holding a white flag.

Weekend Fox is much different than Primetime and weekday Fox. Trump has even criticized it extensively.

Ok so it has been more than ten days.
Where is the post saying "I was wrong.  Fox news is for idiots.  They spread misinformation as a basic function."

    Have you seen Laura Ingraham?
Quite possibly the second dumbest person on reality TV in the history of America.
    Yes, Trump is first.

She just had a segment on how fucked Disney is for ridding Disneyland of racist characters.
    "Mad logic"

    "Where does this end?"

This is the saying that, if you utter it, should clearly tell you that you are a fucking racist

Laura's show is defending Brer Rabbit right now.

Ok so it has been more than ten days.

Hahaha -- I lasted one day!  I slept late in Monday morning, so I missed the president's advisory panel, but noticed as the day wore on, it got worse and worse (with the exception on Bret Baer sp? at 6 o'clock for his news hour that was pretty straight reporting).  The 5 o'clock hour was particularly bad with one guy obsessed with the coming race war. Then Tucker Carlson started his show about how allowing the rioting go on makes us all subject to tyranny -- anytime someone wants something, they'll just start smashing businesses, etc. and hold us all hostage. I couldn't even do Sean Hannity. I just couldn't.

I'm actually just now returning to watching any cable news at all. I've been on a two week break overall, just reading to get my news and trying to stay out of the comments sections. I'm just so tired of the fighting. It has to stop. People in my area are back to bashing teachers again as the school year plans are starting to come out. All of the "we're in this together" and "I had no idea teaching my child was so hard" -- that's gone. I'm so sad.

A bit of a Civil War a brewing?

For context here, Carlson ended his show noting that Jeff Bezos and Amazon have benefited greatly from the pandemic (Bezos' net worth went up $13 billion a few days ago). Hannity responded to this during the transition, and the Tuck didn't seem to like it....

Hannity would later apologize and say that he had missed the point Carlson was trying to make. But this so funny on so many levels. First off, these two being at odds with each other is good fun, and secondly, look at tough guy Hannity APOLOGIZNG. I remember a time where he was the master and ruler of Fox News and would never do such a thing.
