Yeah why don't the Pelosi Democrats write and sign into law M4A? They could voted on it yesterday and it would be in place today! Corporatists!myoung321 said:This is all just beyond belief... The President of the United States of America is a complete and utter lunatic.

Oh the horror, having 100% of your health insurance costs paid for during a pandemic via COBRA. Perfect? Not by a long shot. Better than nothing? Yes. Better than what repubs have proposed, if anything? Absolutely.

Cobra is bs unless you have deep pockets.. The fact that the only way most Americans can afford to be insured is by having employer subsidized health care is a joke. I don’t understand why there is such a push back for m4a, or at least the option...I would much rather have some health care based on me paying taxes than paying thousands a year for very little coverage tha5 does nothing but make insurance companies money.Scio me nihil scire

you know COBRA is retroactive, right? you do not need to sign up for it immediately upon losing your insurance. and if something happens to you and you have not completed the forms or paid your premium, you can do so after the fact.myoung321 said:This is all just beyond belief... i changed careers in october 2019. i had to go without insurance until 12/1. i did not sign up or pay for COBRA because i did not need it.
the sales distributor i worked for from 10/19 got terminated on 2/29, so i got hired on direct from the manufacturer. i had to again go without insurance until 4/1. it is all in the risk that you are comfortable taking.

When you say we do you include yourself. So how would this work anyway. If I got laid off in March and I couldn’t afford to keep my health care because cobra is cost prohibitive, Is the dem plan that I can just re sign up and cobra will pay for my health care? I read the article and it doesn’t explain anything very clearly. At any rate if you can move the numbers around to pay for cobra why not just forgo that and pledge to cover the cost of all covid care instead?Halifax2TheMax said:COBRA in normal times may not be affordable. Well it looks like only 12% based on the numbers. It even seems that a majority of republicans would support a public option upon further reading, which begs the question, why don’t we at the very least have a public option?mrussel1 said:

To answer your bolded question, no. The model for this was the 2009 stimulus bill when 65% of the cost of employer health insurance of those unemployed was paid. Even still, it was found to be cost prohibitive, hence the 100% this time around. But yea, its a joke and both sides are the same, particularly since dems argued for this in the first pandemic stimulus bill but it didn't make it in.static111 said:

The subsidies for COBRA would be available until affected people enrolled in other health insurance, whether that is another group health plan, a plan obtained through the marketplace created through the 2010 Affordable Care Act, or Medicare.
100% of your premiums would be paid by the government, with employers who furloughed workers and accepted the PPP continuing to pay their 1/3, until you found another source of health insurance or six months after the the end of the public health emergency.

Ok 17million laid off. 3.5 lost their healthcare. 13.5 million are keeping their healthcare or never had any to begin with? So if the other 13.5 million are uninsured 20% coverage is to be celebrated and we just have to say sorry to the other 13.5 million because that’s politics? Isn’t that basically saying to the 13.5 million hey just be happy we got the 3.5 million the possibility of coverage and don’t complain? But I get it questioning this makes me a Trump supporter and part of the problem. Sorry but it looks like an empty political gesture. Hopefully after the next election democrats will control all the branches of government and be free of all their obstacles and will finally be able to fast track all of the great programs they claim the republicans have been holding them back from accomplishing.Halifax2TheMax said:

Obama care is not affordable contrary to the name. I mean if it was affordable wouldn’t everyone have it?
