The coronavirus

Thinking back on it, it seems like all this happened in the blink of an eye. One day (Saturday, March 14th, to be exact) my wife and I were becoming very concerned by things we were hearing. We worked the next day and before the work day was out, Governor Gavin Newsom had given the word that anyone over the age of 65 should be sheltering at home. In an instant, our world changed. The old was gone, and a new era began… in an instant.
It is still unsettling to think about.

Unsettling? Listen to this one!My wife at the age of 50 decided to go back to school and become a Registered Nurse. She has spent the last 30 years working with Autistic children/adults. She finished school a couple months ago, obtained her nursing degree, and is/was all set to begin a new chapter in her life. AT THE AGE OF 50!!
She is supposed to start her new job/career at a hospital in the city of Chicago, 1st week of May. She is excited, I am terrified. Because GOD knows I wouldn't want to voluntarily walk into a hospital 5 days a week. I keep telling her I am going to chain her to the couch May 4th, and not let her out of the house.
Take me piece by piece.....

Legos, Ham, and making Mom's broccoli and cheese casserole for our Easter. And chocolate. Far too much chocolate. There will be an outdoor egg hunt for the boy.
We only dyed 5 eggs and we will be eating them today, I've been annoyed at the people on FB with 2 dozen dyed eggs that they won't eat during a damn pandemic that's creating egg shortages.
Might give the chickens some fresh bedding and build some bird cages for the blueberry bushes. Going to be nice but a little chilly, so maybe we will have a little campfire and roast some Easter smores.Monkey Driven, Call this Living?0 -

My province has 112 cases. No deaths. No strain on health care system. In fact it is probably in the best shape it has ever been in with all of the elective surgeries being postponed and other things cancelled or delayed. I have a couple of friends that work at our local hospital and they said they have never had it so easy during their shifts. Hopefully we are not waiting for it to hit and this is in fact as bad as it is going to get. I really feel for the cities/countries that have been hit hard from this. Hopefully worldwide we have hit the peak and are on the way down.Meltdown99 said:"That is a surprise": Doctors still waiting for feared surge of COVID-19 patients in Canadian ICUs

But for real, I agree with fuck China for their part. As with most things it’s about intent and I can ttrust that you guys aren’t being racist, but there are too many fuck faces that are enabled and empowered with these kinds of statements.0 -

You don't? Always thought it was a really stupid criticism of trump and others. Kinda showing that he does get unfair stupid treatment from time to time from these new outlets. I wish they wouldn't do that and provide that evidence cause it gives the idiots that support trump the little ammo they need to convince themselves of some huge conspiracy against Trump.Spiritual_Chaos said:

I have no problems with China being forced by the world to take responsibility. I think we should shut down every animal market in the world.
But there are reasons why they do not name diseases after places anymore, and Trump and his friends calling it "the chinese/wuhan virus" are not doing it with any good intentions at all (clue: it is to put blame on "the other" and not having to take flack for their handling of it). And Maher knows all of this his, even when he says it would have been called the Milan virus if it originated there. Also, the spanish flu isn't named after where it originated. The Ebola virus was named what it is in a way to NOT stigmatize the place where it actually started. So Bill "more like Sean Hannity than feels okey" Maher is shitting away without good intentions.
I doubt many members on here would find good intentions in themselves if if they start to actually reflect on it.
The world community went away from naming diseases after places, but suddenly that should be scrapped because it is China? Feels very, very icky.

^ I don’t see how naming a virus after the place it originated from is racist. I can’t find anything offensive with it. If it started in America, call it the American virus.0

It doesn’t bother me at all if the world continues to call it Covid-19 as opposed to the Wuhan or Chinese Virus, but if that’s what it had been called, I see nothing offensive or racist about it. Political correctness has gone way too far. Everything is suddenly offensive.Spiritual_Chaos said:

How China Deceived the WHO
U.S. senators are calling for investigations and the president is threatening to cut off funding. What happened?
The world health organization is likely just another corrupt bureaucracy and a money pit...
Cut their funding off completely.

Sucks that this China thing has become a partisan issue. China should be pressed on this from both sides. Especially considering how these markets have already started to reopen0
