A couple thoughts on airfare cancellations and refunds based on my recent experience.  Most airlines, at least the three we have been dealing with, American, Southwest and Hawaiian were only giving full refunds if the flight was actually cancelled. Right now, of course many flights are being cancelled as airlines are scaling way down.  If the flight wasn’t cancelled, they were only offering credits.  The big caveat with the credit is that it is only good for 12 months from PURCHASE date, not date of departure.  So in reality, you probably only have about 6 months to use, depending of course when you purchased.

We were able to eventually get a full refund from a flight that wasn’t cancelled with southwest after extended begging and pleading with very understanding operator. They are obviously overwhelmed with calls and are only trying to follow their policies. Hope that small bit of intel helps a few of you. Cheers and see u on the next tour!

Sensible decision and really the only decision possible. Please please could you add a few different shows in the UK if Hyde Park has already booked their headliners and not leave us concert-less

Flight refunds could be tricky unless refundable fares were purchased.  Airlines may still operate the flights in the summer.  If so they’re not going to care that concerts were postponed.  And if they ultimately don’t operate the flights, they will probably wait until closer to the time to cancel them.  They won’t offer $ now.  Some airlines may not even exist by July.  And others will offer credits and make you fight them for refunds.  Every airline in the world probably needs some type of government bailout to stay in business and they will hold
onto money as tightly and as long as they can. They have no revenue and still have costs.

This is a cancellation and a new tour announcement.  It is over one year out.  No fucking refunds at this time?  Call it what it is and cancel it.  Jesus this is a fucking embarrassment 10C.

I will still make the trip for Europe travel if you can go between EU countries but Pearl Jam dropped the ball here.  This is a cancellation not a postponement.  Postponements are usually made up relatively quickly.  In sports (the same season).  This is fucking 14 to 15 months out and they want to hold our money through a technicality on a fucking postponement?

My first thought was there should be refunds but as someone said set the new dates first then individuals can better decide if they want a refund or keep the tickets

Nah, not 15 months out.  Wipe it clean.  Full reset.  Waiting until December for new dates is a joke.

December would be but what if its next month or at least before the original dates?

They still don't have NA Fall dates out yet.  I wouldn't hold your breath.

I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt on the refunds and think they will offer them once they have a process worked out with all the ticket agencies.  They were probably working on that at pace and caught off guard by BST announcing this week which forced an announcement.

Assuming that’s true I’m glad they’re calling it a postponement so people who want to can still use the tickets they were able to get.  I wouldn’t want to have to start again.  It’s not their fault there’s a pandemic and with the nature of a Euro tour there probably weren’t sooner reasonable choices than 6/7-21.

Many airlines and hotels only book 12 months into the future.  If anyone know of any exceptions please share.

I assume “refunds are not being offered at this time” would be better phrased as “refund details are not available at this time but will be provided shortly”.  If they are actually not offering refunds that would be shocking.  Many people will be happy to use the tickets in the future, but not everyone.

Yes, but you can get a 24 month credit possibly.

Praying for this to be the option for my trip. I have $4400 tied up in flights right now. Not holding my breath.

I had to wait for the day before my departure this spring for this option with Air Canada. I hope it will still be in place by the summer.

Thanks to Tenclub for giving us something to be exited:
New dates for Europe in 2021 (even if they are not fixed, but time frame June/July).
Glad I can keep the tickets; I hope they create the new tour in the same sequence as in 2020.
I have no booked flights, this makes it easier for me, of course.
These shows will be EPIC after all this!

I am sure that once the new dates are available, a refund option will be offered as well for people who can not go or are not willing to. I am also sure that they are working as hard as they can to schedule new dates as soon as possible. These are unprecedented times, so please give them a break and be a bit patient.

One thing that is a bit confusing though is that in PJ’s BST Hyde Park announcement, it was said that they “are working closely with event organizers on our possible 2021 return.” I am hopeful that PJ will therefore return next year, but I hope we will also get clarity on whether people can hold their tickets if they want to. That would be my preference.
