Apparently in the MLB thread I found out cards are worth something again.

Also, it seems like Jose Rijo was in practically every pack from like 1986 to 1992.

These 86 Topps cards are the first I remember collecting

one of my fav Topps years for baseabll cards. I know I have cards from '78 but i doubt i started collecting then since i was like 5 years old.
Wow you were born in '73? I'm '78 so 1986 cards are right in my wheelhouse

    early '74 (January).

I kinda miss card collecting somewhat. Stopped about 15 years ago or so. Me and my friends would go to the Card shows at the valley forge casino or fort washington expo center a lot.

Alright, wake up, everybody. If it's not evident by now I spend 98.7654% of my time in Philly threads, and that most likely will become 100% here soon. With that said - all of my random questions & thoughts will go here, though I'm pretty sure that's already the case.

What is the FIRST thing you're doing when this is all over? I mean, like, really over - like, a year from now. I am handing the kids over to the grandparents and going somewhere that involves getting on a plane. Spain sounds like a good move.

    Filing for divorce.

    Jk.
As soon as I can test and confirm I have already had it then I am organizing a trip to fishing camp with any friends who can join.
Talked to my buddy who hosts us down there last night and being an ER doc is not fun stuff right now - he will welcome the visitors and the opportunity to get out into the bayou for some partying, fishing, eating, and tall-tale-telling.

Weeelll, I am hoping the shore but who knows with timing. I just want to see people, family and friends. I am sure my wife will get a night out with her people and as will I. Can’t come soon enough.

We did a trip to Aruba in mid-February that turned into perfect timing

Anywhere that I can drink heavily and be surrounded by faces that aren’t just family and friends.  I wanna see people I don’t know having fun again,  beach would be preferable but I won’t be picky.  I hope it’s a lot sooner than a year though

Best new PJ music of 2020, aside from "Dance..." = cover of Hunted Down.

Good to hear Stone on a studio recording again.

Haha, alright, let's do this: It has. A few things - 1) I am comfortable saying the first 8 tracks are good, ok, or at least growing on me (Dance... and Quick Escape are up there as greats to me). Should've only kept one of the last 3 songs - probably River Cross, ultimately works well at the end of an album, kinda like Arc to me; 2) I realize a big part of this is me, my expectations. They're just done from a creativity standpoint it seems to me, plus I'm expecting something in the vein of an album similar to something between the span of No Code and Riot Act (my personal favorite overall era). Plus, they're old, they've got kids, it's hard to punch up when you're multimillionaires, I get it. 3) I ultimately would say this isn't really an experimental album, nothing really pushing them other than for one song. When a lot of the tracks titles & sound blend together that's saying something. Now, if Gigaton came out before Backspacer, or Lightning Bolt, I'd be much more jazzed about this album, if that makes any sense.

It's all good though - we're all fucking older, they're the band I'll see and have a great time regardless.

If I'm ranking again it goes like this, and purely my own personal opinion:
    1) Yield
    2) No Code
    3) Binaural
    4) Vs.
    5) Ten
    6) Riot Act
    7) Vitalogy
    8) Avocado
    9) Gigaton
    10) Backspacer
    11) Lightning Bolt

End of rant (readjusts pocket protector).

posted this in the how you feeling now thread but will also post it here cause why not

Woke up this morning, laid in bed for awhile. Decided to get up and out to feed my cat and giver her her insulin. Took a few steps then started to black out. Grabbed onto a a door frame,my left foot gave way and i fell flat on my face onto the carpeted floor. Laid there for a few seconds then i realized my nose was bleed profusely. Gathered my senses and went to the bathroom to stop the bleeding and tried to clean my carpet. Nice rug burn on my face if that's possible.

Just weird, never had that happen. Physically fine but mentally wasn't there for awhile. Headache? Vertigo? Stress from co-vid 19? don't know.

Also posted this on facebook. some people suggested it could be low blood sugar.

That's rough, man - I'm assuming the bleeding is from smashing your face? If so, probably not urgent to get to the doctor but otherwise probably should see about stitches or something. I don't want to say what it may be because I'm a) not a doctor and b) don't want to put you down a rabbit hole of Google MD. Do you have the ability of doing a telehealth call with a doctor or something similar? If we're relatively young, and healthy, then we should avoid hospitals at all costs, but if you can get on the phone with a doctor you should probably do that.

    Take care of yourself.

woah that sounds rough. hope you are doing better.  just make sure you keep aware of how you are feeling. if you feel 'off' contact a doctor. these days who knows what it could be.

ok so after a few weeks here are my song list by favs to least fav for Gigaton.  I think this album is a lot like Avocado.  Lots of things that sound good at the moment but not sure what the long term staying power of the songs will be.
    1 - Quick Escape
    2 - Never Destination
3 - Take the Long Way (don't see a lot of love for this song but i really dig it)
4 - Dance of the Clairvoyants
5 - 7 O'Clock (this one grows on me each time i hear it, could be moving up)
6 - Comes then Goes (another one that seems to grow on me as i hear it more)
    7 - Superblood Wolfmoon
    8 - Retrograde
    9 - River Cross
10 - Who Ever Said (seems pretty bland to me even for an uptempo rocker)
    11 -  Alright
12 - Buckle Up (something about this song i really don't like. one of my least favorite PJ songs on any album right now)

I think the fact that most people don't like or even hate Buckle up.....makes me enjoy it that much more. It's so fucking weird and the messed up lyrics don't match the upbeat music what so ever.....I don't know. I find it endearing!

Plus, I don't care what they say, that's a god damned trombone being played in that one part.

one thing i do enjoy about this album is the different sounds on it.  different than what they usually do. probably why i don't really like who ever said, that is so supersonic-ish
