Haven’t kept up with this thread as much, but this article outlines another horrible new reality for some people.  Hopefully the government acts quickly to protect our health care professionals.

Yes, but still to lockdown a state like NY and not even the whole state just the city would take some enforcement by law to keep everyone on lockdown like in China , I live in suburbia Long Island but in areas like Flushing, Corona , Jamaica these are just a couple of areas of Queens which are packed to the gills with people they are tough to control...

Jose they literally welded the doors shut in apartment complexes to keep people in. No way they are doing that here.

    Yes.

Except for gymnasium (16-19 year olds) and universities. Where people are of age to take care of themselves and do not need a parent present.

Do all schools in Sweden have less than fifty kids per school?  If not it doesn’t make a lot of sense.  Hopefully your government does the right thing and shuts down schools too.
    Stay healthy.

I now know someone who got the virus, and it is a TERRIBLE situation. He is the foster brother of my best friend's wife. I have known him for years, and he is now in his 20s. He has very severe muscular dystrophy, and is immobile and 100% dependent on his in-home qualified caretaker. The problem is that both he AND his caretaker got COVID-19 at the same time, and the symptoms are so severe for her that she couldn't even move, let alone care for his needs, which includes feeding him and moving him and keeping him clean, literally everything. While they did manage to get someone who's at least somewhat qualified to drop in at times during the day to care for both of them in his home (after his mother worked her ass off to make that happen), it is a really fucked up situation. Since the sick caretaker can't move him in and out of his wheelchair now, he is having to just stay in it all the time, even to sleep at night (staying in bed 24/7 isn't an option because of the nature of his disability). He is completely terrified of hospitals too, because of past trauma, so insisted on staying home through this even though his special care couldn't be properly provided. They were both in absolutely terrible pain for days. Apparently they are now showing some improvement, but damn.... I hate to think of other disabled people who are put in abnormally difficult situations due to a lack of healthy qualified people to provide the care they need.

That really is a gut-wrenching story.  I'm glad to hear they are improving and hopefully on their way to full recovery soon.

    Stay healthy.
It is a measure mostly to stop pubs etc, where the crowds are still big and people are still too  close to each other. I would imagine schools being exempt from it. Or them solving not having all kids eat at the same time etc.

    And regarding closing schools:

The United Kingdom has decided to close all schools as a result of the corona virus. Sweden and the United Kingdom have broadly had a similar strategy for dealing with the corona virus. But closing all schools is not the way to go, according to Johan Giesecke.

    - It is a bad measure that causes so much more problems in society. There are one million children in Sweden who are between 0 and 10 years old. They need supervision, if you close the schools so that one of their parents must be at home, it will have huge effects.

Should also be noted that Norway and Denmark close their schools because of political decisions, overruling their own Public Health Authority. According to Giesecke.

I think anyone with an ideology has blind spots, myself included. If someone makes a point or if you wind up flat out wrong about something, just cop to it. But yeah there is another level entirely and cognitive dissonance is a good way to put it.
