Sounds like an extremist position...pjl44 said:Wherein people dicussing divergent political views is a toxic culture. If beating Trump means conforming to a different group of petty fascists, then you can start to understand the appeal of third parties.Monkey Driven, Call this Living?0 -
I'm describing the need in some circles to demonize anyone who disagrees with them as being toxic. Bernie people did it to Clinton and now Biden. Clinton/Biden people continue to do it to Bernie.

"Petty fascists?" Is that how you're referring to dems who don't subscribe to Bernie's free everything mantra. Wow, deplorable. Vote 3rd party and reap what ye shall sow.pjl44 said:Wherein people dicussing divergent political views is a toxic culture. I'd have more respect for the berniebrosises if they could see the forest for the trees but apparently they prefer to cut off their noses to spite their face. I'd vote for Bernie if he were the party's nominee but thank goodness he won't be and I won't have to pull that lever.JimmyV said:I'm describing the need in some circles to demonize anyone who disagrees with them as being toxic. There are many extreme problems facing the world today that a lot of us don’t think Joe will do much about. I don’t see anything wrong with voicing dissenting opinion. Global warming, income inequality, workers rights, restoring strength in regulatory agencies. During Joe’s salad years as a politician is when a majority of safeguards were stripped away and some that he signed off on. There is reason to believe that all Joe will offer after years of the republicans dragging the political discourse further and further to the right is maybe keep things from getting worse or further right. There is no reason that anyone can’t harp about Biden all the way to casting their vote and even months and years after if he does get the nomination. It’s dangerous to view this election as just a “referendum on trump” and down talk to people that don’t fall in step with all of your politics.pjl44 said:Wherein people dicussing divergent political views is a toxic culture. The level of greed in politics will still be sky high as will the level of corporate cronyism no matter who gets elected. Viewing mainstream candidates from either party as petty fascists may be extreme, but we are living in extreme times and need to at least try to take extreme measures to correct course. Otherwise we are just on the same path to destroying ourselves and the planet albeit at a much slower pace. But by all means tell people that are otherwise on your side that they need to get over themselves or are trump supporters if they don’t blindly follow the dogma of the corporate run Democrats...I’m sure that will bring us one step closer to ending trumps presidency 🙄Scio me nihil scire

Lurching so far left as to endorse a $50 trillion spending plan over 4 years is not going to appeal to indies and Romney/Bush/Kasich repubs. You’ve seen what 3 years of Team Trump Treason has given us and I guess the Berniebrosises are fine with another 4 years of fascism. We need to return to normal stability, retake the senate and work on a progressive agenda. None of that happens with Team Trump Treason or Bernie in office.static111 said:rgambs said:

We are probably 20 years away of having a chance to elect someone as hard left as Bernie. We never have before and Bernie and his poicies have limited support in Congress currently.
It makes a lot of sense for Bernie supporters to acknowledge that the basic premise of being a democrat is that we believe we the people can band together and help when help is needed.
It makes a lot more of sense for Bernie supporters to remain part of the process. Push Biden’s m4a to be as low cost as possible if he does become president . To make enrollment easy and often. To make it available to anyone who wants it, like Pete says.0 -
I agree with this entire post. Can’t argue with that. I will add that I don’t think Bernie supporters are in conflict with the belief that we can all stand together and help when help is needed, that’s the whole crux of our movement. In the end I think everyone understands the need to unseat Trump.Lerxst1992 said:static111 said:rgambs said:

Present. That's all that needs to be said about Tulsi Gabbard.Hi! said:Many of Gabbard’s Fox News hits during her presidential campaign have involved defending the president, even as she campaigns to run against him. Last October, as the House’s inquiry into Trump’s attempts to pressure Ukraine into digging up dirt on Joe Biden began to heat up, Gabbard slammed the “very, very partisan” impeachment, which she insisted only serves to “tear apart an already divided country.” (She later voted “present” on the impeachment articles). While Gabbard criticized the president’s targeted killing of Qasem Soleimani on Fox News, she has also used appearances to call Hillary Clinton a “warmonger” and vouch for those who “decided that they would vote for Trump because of what he was saying on the campaign trail about ending stupid wars and bringing our troops home.”
Gabbard’s treatment of Trump is a departure from the Obama years, when she became Fox News’ go-to Democrat for bashing the administration’s foreign policy and then president Barack Obama’s refusal to use the terms “Islamic extremism” or “radical Islam.” Her recent praise for a Republican president and criticism of the Democratic establishment, coupled with her decision not to run again for her congressional seat, has fueled speculation that she’s considering launching an independent bid or auditioning for a Fox News role.
