    YES, I DO
I am so excited that this is NOTHING like I expected. I like backspacer/lb but I think another similar record would’ve been a bit boring. So happy they are pushing their musical boundaries as these guys are all amazing musicians. And I said in another thread I actually hope Gigaton ends up being like No Code and drops off some of the negative “I want grunge, ten/vs/Vitalogy again” fans.

I can’t select yes or no because I’m in the middle. I like Bowie and appreciate the style and creativity that went into the song, but I’m not into the drums and keys in this one. It’s kind of like You Are imo, which I like as a one off, but wouldn’t want the whole album to be. If it wasn’t PJ, I probably wouldn’t give it too many listens. I keep picturing dark 80’s dance clubs when I hear it, like the scene in the 80’s horror film, Fright Night. Excited to hear the rest of the album and glad the reaction has been mostly positive!

Sweet Flying Spaghetti Monster, some AV dork needs to put the music over this video.  You hit gold.

Also reminds me of The Killers "The Man".

  • NO, I DON'T
No I don't care for it.  The song vocals and lyrics feel forced.  I am not a fan of the synth or drums.

This doesn't mean that I am throwing away the album.  I do look forward to hearing the new songs live as the vale may be pulled away and a gem is behind this.  I did mention before that I don't like to re-imagine a song but for this one I will have to.

Has anyone made a Talking Heads reference yet?  Trying to remain positive on the song or let it grow on me. Not big on the dance beat drum machine sound. But this band often teamed journeys I’m not ready for musically from them. Sometimes they are hindsight hits for me. Some stay misses...but let the tune digest and set for awhile. Peace.
I totally heard a Talking Heads sound in it as well.

But that being sad i also didnt lke "Who You Are" on my first listen and the whole album for that matter. Nowadays No code is probably my favorite album and i love Who You Are. Same can be said for Riot Act.

So I heard it first this morning in my car 3 X in a row. I am now listening on my headphones.

    Love it!!!

It is extremely exciting to have new music from the best band in the world.

Still digesting it but sounds damn amazing. I too am not big on the drum machine sound and the keys in the start but I am sure a lot of thought would have went into that.

    Love it!

If I had the AV skills to do it, I would. I know many on here certainly can do this in a matter of minutes. Let’s see it!

Invigorating and unexpected, PJ at 30 still have a lot of life in them.

Same. Leads me to think my assumption that most folks on here listen almost exclusively to PJ was mostly incorrect.

Could we add an "on the fence" option? There are elements to the song that I really like, and some that are a bit confusing.

Listened to it a few times.
    It's ok.
Mostly glad they're pushing somewhere unexpected. Love to hear that Stone and Jeff had an unusual role in creating it.
Wait and see whether that equates to music that has staying power for me personally.

    Definitely hear:

Peter Gabriel/Killers/little bit of Bowie/little bit of Heads, with a nod to This is Radio Clash.

    Keep em coming!

Trying to withhold from listening to it too many times so that it folds as something new into the full album listening experience.
Streamed it once in the car with kids in carpool this morning.
    Then just watched the video.
Tried to consume TODC w/ a blank slate of expectations. It's fresh, edge-y. A welcome departure from the band's recent sounds.
Love it and stoked to hear the direction of the whole album.

I do.  It's a different sound.   A familiar 80s vibe to it, but a different sound for PJ.  I always felt starting sometime around Binaural/Riot Act that they settled on a PJ sound.  Whereas the earlier albums tended to sound more different from each other.    That WTF moment when you got your copy of no code (which took me until Yield to appreciate).   I definitely had a WTF moment the first listen, but it's completely growing on me.
