Listen to this beautiful song written by our Taree local as a tribute to our firefighters. I love it

We're into rain here on the U.S. west coast now, but those days of choking down smoke were not that long ago (and will be here again), so my best thoughts and hopes for some relief to our Down Under friends during a tough, shitty time.  Hang in there good people!

Unfortunately mate, the majority of voting public only look in their own backyard when thinking about who to vote for. Now that many residents of the Eastcoast of Australia have been impacted by these fires and seen the lack of actions by any of our governments (State or Federal) that they may start thinking about the bigger picture. Sad that it takes these terrible events to bring to light some major issues
The other major issue with Australian politics (and from what I've seen, we are not the only western country with this problem) is I'm not sure the other voting options will be vastly better. It would be nice to have a PM though that actually seems to care about ALL Australians. I wonder if we can convince Jacinda Ardern to become an Aussie??

thank you Brian. All the other states are burning too and getting worse. Soon it wont just be the east coast taking the brunt. Fireys are warning once its hits the Sydney suburbs things could get very bad very fast. They seem to have tamed the media somewhat lately but its not getting any better in fact fire ignitions and uncontained fires have doubled since Tuesday. The PM stated today to be calm and not hype the situation. He's a fucking lunatic it hasn't even been summer weather yet! I read a post yesterday from a firey warning my local area that they are the last line of defence and they cant stop a bushfire heading into another major national park in NSW the Barrington Tops! They are hoping for help as most of the crew are over the age 50 and are exhausted

So sad to realize how bad the fires there are. I hope all the Aussies here get through this.😢.  Your leadership sounds about as intelligent, thoughtful and compassionate as ours here in the US. And other countries have been witnessed laughing at the idiotic statements made. I don't really care about being embarrassed..I'm more angry that the environment and all the citizens are the ones suffering thanks to their stupidity and selfishness. Also--I love the screen name mad fucking witch. I hope she curses their hearts but stones don't burn.

The fires still rage and are not stopping anytime soon. We are heading into a heatwave next week into the 40 degree plus celcius range. Our firies are exhausted and equipment is wearing out quickly from months of battling these horrific fires. We have sent an air tanker across the country today as fires are now rampant in Western Australia also. Big arse country with only one owned 15,000 litre air tanker DC10 "marie bashir" and one one loan from the US the 38,000 litre DC10 supercharged 911. Almost 3 million hectares has now burnt in NSW alone. We are drought ravaged and on level 4 water restrictions. 90 towns may be evacuated soon as no water is left. We have sold our water to the highest bidder. Foreign owned almond farms and cotton farms draining the rivers for profit. Coal mines poisoning the artesian basin our ground water which covers the entire eastern Australia. Corruption and greed and a prime minister that doesn't give a fuck!! This footage is from tonight. Calm weather and dry forest of gumtrees blowing up like a bomb. Unstoppable and killing our landscape and precious animals. Our firies can only offer property protection from these mass blazes in the hope to save some homes and lives. They are doing an oustanding job and are just superheroes to us. I won't get into the climate change debate but its becoming evident and people are finally opening their eyes.

Our PM is more focused on the religious freedom bill. I hope one day the people of this country stand up to him. Revolution!

I really struggled to make out what she said. The audio is distorted. I got the gist of it though. What more can be said, Scomo is a disgrace.
