    Wasn’t Mahomes ankle injured on a sack the week previous against Indy? And wasn’t it during the Denver game that he hurt his knee? Anyway, maybe it was just before the half? Regardless, your QB got hurt in a game they won 30-6. Could have been a 26-6 win and a healthy QB. You know opposing D’s will pressure him from the week side of his knee, forcing, eventually, a shortened career. For what? A first down in a meaningless game in a meaningless situation.

    Every time you step on the football field, you run the risk of getting hurt.  Pat hurt his ankle in Week 1 and did aggravate it against Indy and Houston.  Every game in the NFL matters, especially when you've got Super Bowl aspirations.  There are no meaningless games and they needed a win after losing two-in-a-row.  Indianapolis is not one of the worst teams in the NFL and Houston is now a legitimate contender for a bye in the AFC.  Sitting out your best player, who was able to play and drastically elevates your chances of winning is not a bad decision.  Shit happens in the NFL and what happened on that QB sneak was purely coincidental and could have happened to any other QB in that situation.
    But it was against Denver with a full half of football to play in a game where you end up winning 30-6. Go up 7 at the half. In that particular situation, in that game, against that opponent, it wasn’t worth the risk. The SB quest is a marathon, not a sprint. And it’s decisions like that that keep QBs like Mahomes from the SB, never mind winning one. In a must win division game toward the end of the season, down one or two, I get it. There in that instance, dumb call. I’m not arguing Mahomes should have sat against Indy or Houston. I’m arguing the QB sneak at that point of the game against Denver was a dumb call. The pats’ Relentless D will exploit that injury. As will the Raiders and against them, better hope Mahomes doesn’t end up on the bottom of a pile of tangled bodies.

    Then every time a QB sneak is called, by ANY HEAD COACH, I expect you to be there criticizing them (cough, Bill Belechick).  How were the Chiefs supposed to know they were going to win that game 30-6?  Have you seen their defense?  I’m hoping Thursday night wasn’t an anomaly, but they were an absolute sieve in giving up yards and points.  You have one of the best offenses in NFL history and you suggest settling for a FG is a good idea?  Your winning percentage goes up significantly if you go for it on 4th and 1 in that situation.  Suggesting the Chiefs and Andy Reid went into that game believing they were going to blow out the Broncos is just flat out lunacy.  They were up 17-3 on Houston last week in the first quarter and blew that lead by the half.  There was no reason for them to take their foot off the gas with their offense against Denver, and nothing wrong with that play call.   
    I wish I was a sacrifice, but somehow still lived on.

    Well, I hope it was worth your QB missing the SB then. Only 7 other teams have a worse offense than Denver and their D gives up 295 yards a game, almost 200 of it in passing. And yes, I don’t like seeing TB12 run the ball. Ever.

    They have to keep winning to keep pace with NE and have a chance at the Super Bowl anyway.  If this season is a wash, so be it.  I’m completely down with protecting Mahomes, but I don’t believe getting overly conservative is the way to do it.  Plus, they were getting killed in TOP by IND and HOU.  They went into that game believing they had to maximize every possession, given how well the Colts and Texans kept the Chiefs offense on the sideline.

    Chiefs will still win their division, though a bye suddenly looks in jeopardy. If it were me I'd shelf Mahomes till at east after the bye as I said earlier. Have him healthy for the stretch run and playoffs.

    I’d be fine if he sat the rest of the year if he needs it.  They cannot rush him back under any circumstance.  If they don’t get to the Super Bowl this year, then they’ll have another shot next year and the year after that, etc.

    I promise after this I’ll get off of my soapbox here, this topic just strikes a nerve with me.  I don’t believe Andy Reid is at fault for any of his players getting hurt.  Injuries happen in the NFL, at any position, at any given time.  The strength of a good HC is overcoming injuries and maximizing the strengths of his team.  They have the best passing offense in the NFL.  Mahomes could have had as bad, if not a worse, knee injury if he trips over his offensive line’s feet while taking a snap under center while trying to hand it off to Shady McCoy.  It was a freak injury and I’m convinced of that.  I guess Sean Payton is an idiot for getting Drew Brees hurt too.

    I promise after this I’ll get off of my soapbox here, this topic just strikes a nerve with me.  I don’t believe Andy Reid is at fault for any of his players getting hurt.  Injuries happen in the NFL, at any position, at any given time.  The strength of a good HC is overcoming injuries and maximizing the strengths of his team.  They have the best passing offense in the NFL.  Mahomes could have had as bad, if not a worse, knee injury if he trips over his offensive line’s feet while taking a snap under center while trying to hand it off to Shady McCoy.  It was a freak injury and I’m convinced of that.  I guess Sean Payton is an idiot for getting Drew Brees hurt too.  
    The guy you’re arguing with doesn’t even know the name of his team’s backup quarterback. 

    I’m not the biggest Reid fan but to blame him for his qb getting hurt on a sneak is ridiculous. Nobody ever gets hurt on qb sneaks.

    TB12’s backup is #4. His name is irrelevant. But if you don’t know it, you’re a fraud fan. Because of the sizzling hot QB controversy that started the season up there in New England.

    It’ll depend on the situation. 2 minutes before the half against a shit team in a game of little import up 4 with a chance to go up 7 rather than risk your injured QB for a TD? Yea, I’ll blame Bill. In a game down six with less than two to play to clinch home field throughout, Bill gets credit for the right call. #4 steps in and pats roll to the SB.
