New SAT tests have "Adversity Scoring". Is this doing kids a disservice?

I couldn't watch the video, was it the same as quoted in the article or is there more there?
What's quoted in the article doesn't say anything about Common Core being intended to stop white privilege, so is it a terribly biased headline with a sad agenda or is there more to the story that I'm missing?

The guy says on camera " The reason why I helped write the standards and the reason I am here today, as a white male in society I was given a lot of privilege that I didn't earn and as a result I think it's really important that all kids get an equal opportunity to learn how to read..."
