The only reason I would say the best days are over is because their tour schedule has shrunken so much when compared to past decades. I think they are still on fire when they play live we just need them to get out and tour!

If you really think about it, the last "large scale" tour was 2006.  And Riot Act in 2002 was the last album they put out without making us wait longer than 2 years (+4 to Pearl Jam, +3 Backspacer, +4 Lightning Bolt, approaching +6 now).  None of this is all that new.  It's been happening for the last 13-17 years.  But for some reason, the cancelation of the fan club vinyl single was the tipping point and now "Pearl Jam is no longer a band" in the eyes of many.  I agree with PJNB, they are still on fire when they play live.  It's just that the touring isn't as vast, and it hasn't been for a while.
We'll get new music when they are ready.  I personally would rather them take their time than rush just for the sake of putting something out, and then have it lack in quality.

$10,000 out of pocket AFTER insurance. Girlie had some major dental issues. We're in the home stretch. Single digits on number of visits before braces come off. They have been on for over 3 years, with 2 1/2 years of prep ahead of that. But! It'll all be good soon! :triumph:

Riverbend? Ick. Can we get something a bit more centrally located in Ohio? Riverbend tops out at 15,000.

    Columbus?

    Cleveland?

If you stretch your scrotum out onto the chair you’re sitting on, you get a much better chance of smashing both nuts with one swing of the meat mallet.  Hitting one ball or the other tends to just frustrate, when what you’re looking to do is numb the pain in your life with a shocking searing blow to both balls.

DMB has always toured more than Pearl Jam. They are a road band. They made their careers playing as many shows as possible.  PJ is a band that plays live dates. They always have been.

yea but it's a bit of overkill too for DMB.   they just played their 40th and 41st show in Camden alone.  and there were still tickets day of the show for both shows.  they've saturated the Philly market playing year after year after year.  loses it's luster when they are there every year.  like food sometimes a lot of something is too much and gets tired.

i think the lack of new music is a bigger issue for PJ than the lack of touring.  most group go through lulls in touring.  as i said before Bruce went a decade without playing with the E Street Band. Most bands go through that.

We are in no danger of a Pearl Jam summer tour getting tired.

    No doubt.

My point was more to the question of DMB and PJ are similar in popularity and success, so why is one not like the other?

Six minutes of Thom Yorke experimenting with this will be called genius when it is released on the next Radiohead record.
