    I would have thought the point was that nobody thinking critically would have thought being a "successful businessman" was specifically a highly desired trait in a President at all. Especially not one who was supposedly one in real estate and development at that level, since that is a SUCH a shady industry. Not to mention the whole casino fiasco.

    And the fact that he couldn't secure loans from US banks is a sure sign that he was struggling, along with the multiple bankruptcy filings.

    you'd actually be surprised how much american culture impacts canadian culture. it is a complete 1 way street. most of our tv and music and entertainment as a whole has been mostly american content. 

    and sometimes it can seem like we're punishing ourselves, but we honestly are concerned for the well being of your country, for your country's sake, also the world's sake, but for our own as well as it directly impacts ours. you can see the trump effect rippling into our politics, and that is deeply concerning to a lot of us.

    And of course it has a huge impact on us economically in all kinds of ways, and the whole travel ban thing has really impacted us in both business and education ... and so and so on and so on. And yes, I agree that Trumpian politics are starting to bleed into Canada, which is horrifying.
    But aside from that, I think many Canadians are genuinely concerned about human beings who happen to be south of the border and who are being hurt by the Trump administration and all that comes with it (women, minorities, LGBTQ, refugees, etc). Oh, and of course the terrible environmental impact of his deregulations as well.
