Reacting to news that gas prices in Metro Vancouver reached as high as $1.64 per litre on Monday, Kenney promised “that’s just an appetizer.”“The mayor of Vancouver says he… wants a carbon-free Vancouver by 2040,” said Kenney “If he blocks our oil, we can give him a carbon-free Vancouver by 2020.”
LOL. Who says Canadian politics are boring...
Idiot.
For the record, BC has always paid a ton for gas. The existing pipeline has offered us nothing provinces completely detached from the pipeline process share in except for a few spots where it puked on our soil.
Say nothing of the carbon or coastal concerns... there has been no advantage for BC residents that make twinning the pipeline an attractive thing to do. Short term jobs are just that. Long term jobs would be minimal at best and potentially outnumber the jobs lost at the coast. And... there's risk: the last oil spill was much bigger than they originally expressed (yup... they lied... shocker, eh?).
Alberta doesn't have a coast. If it wants access to one... it should play nicely with provinces that do- not threaten and try to bully them- it just fortifies the resistance. $2 per liter? Oh well. Just drive less I guess. Gas should cost more than bottled water.

I do not think a pipeline needs to be run west, but energy east always made the most sense...but thanks to some Saudi lobbying we will continue to buy oil from a horrible country...one of the worst countries in the world, we have plenty of oil to stop buying from them, but a French PM will screw every province over including BC to keep them happy in Quebec. And if Notley is right, the shovels go into the ground in the summer...so the pipeline is being built.Thirty Bills Unpaid said:Meltdown99 said:Kenney outlines pipeline war plan during campaign stop in Fort McMurray

Either way, it matters little to me about trans mountain. We need to STOP buying Saudi oil.Give Peas A Chance…0 -
The Albertan politicians are just so ridiculous it hurts. I'm so glad I don't live there.Meltdown99 said:Kenney outlines pipeline war plan during campaign stop in Fort McMurray

Kenny was born in Ontario and raised in Sask.
I don't know what we did to deserve him in Alberta, that slimeball is such an embarrassment.
I'm proud Notley is my premier, but unfortunately not for long.0 -
He is terrible! I don't like Notley either, maybe for obvious reasons if you can empathize with how she comes off to British Colombians. But she's a hell of a lot better than that psycho Kenney. I can't believe he might win. It's making me very nervous... and causing me to wonder about a whole lot of Albertans, sorry (not you!).dignin said:Kenny was born in Ontario and raised in Sask.

It's not really close unfortunately. The NDP is consistently about 10 points behind in the polls. We got lucky with the split PC/Wildrose vote last election but now it's only progressive parties splitting the vote the other way this time around.PJ_Soul said:

Calgary is going to decide this election.
It's gonna take a miracle for the NDP to pull off the upset this time, and Alberta will go back to it's eggs all in the dying oil industry basket. Were pretty much fucked.0 -

Why can't he get away with it? BC has made it clear that the coastline is THEIRS. So I guess any oil and gas in the ground belongs to Albertans, and if he wins (likely with a strong mandate from the people)...and that is part of his platform...I see no reason he cannot turn off the taps. Why should you care if he turns off the tap? Buy your oil and gas from the US. Or are you telling us that too much of your oil and gas come from Alberta? Then I guess you shouldn't have left so much of your Oil and Gas needs in the hands of a province you clearly dislike...PJ_Soul said:dignin said:

And if gas spikes above $2/litre BC should be happy...you are opposed to carbon use...that's one to get people to drive/make better choices.
So you should rejoice at the concept of $2/l gas ...
But BC is not, they sued to stop a pipeline, then they sued to keep Alberta oil flowing... kind of sending a mixed message of what you want.

Mostly because the courts have held that a province can't unilaterally decide to restrict such trade to one province and not another in a punitive manner.
But I am fine with gas being expensive. It should be.my small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf0 -
He couldn't get away with it because of the courts. But also, the issue is being used by both of these yahoos as pure propaganda. And it seems to be working, even on Meltdown, who doesn't even live in Alberta, lol. Based on your little knee jerk reaction in your last post dude, you're a bit of a fiddle in this case... but one that nobody cares about in the context of this issue.Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Why the bold THEIRS? Do you think the people that have their homes and lives there should feel it is just as much Ontario's... or Saskatchewan's... or Alberta's? The oil and gas lying in Alberta's soil is their resource.
BC does not dislike Alberta at all. BC is kind of tired of the recent antics, but no more tired of them than a sibling might be at another for poor momentary behaviour. We'll both get over it.
And I'm fine with paying $2 per liter just so long as you do too. Rejoice is not the correct term. And if Alberta wants to shut the taps off... then shut them off. Does Kenney think that would be good for constituents? We will buy gas from the US. Do you think our cars are going to be rendered useless and we are solely reliant upon dirty oil?

If BC and Quebec want to put up barriers for other provinces to move their resources, then those provinces effected can refuse to sell resources to BC and Quebec...
What's the problem? You in BC should be HAPPY...no oil coming into your province will help you become carbon-free...is that not what you want?Give Peas A Chance…0 -

Judge...It does not matter how they achieved reductions.
Judge...why do you not leave them alone?
Because Trudeau's a dope.

The liberals are headed for defeat in PEI and never requested a Trudeau visit. LOL.
And what's up with the NDP, they seriously need to either rebrand the party or take a serious look at their policies. Other than BC (and they have only a minority), I see them as a threat to no one politically anymore.Give Peas A Chance…0 -

this. the lack of anxiety alone is worth the price. and honestly, I guess the prices of street weed in winnipeg are not in line with the rest of the country. I'm honestly not paying much more legally than I did illegally.Thirty Bills Unpaid said:Meltdown99 said:
