Everyone voted for Ronnie. I come from the only state (aside from DC) that did not. And that was because Mondale was from Minnesota. Reagan was my first lesson into the importance of intangibles. I never quite understood it myself, but people just liked him. Anyone in the middle voted for him and there were "Reagan Democrats." Part of it was probably the perception of the GOP's willingness to be tough with the Soviet Union.
