And yeah, god forbid someone wants to work for the most money possible. I’m sure you’d just jump at the first offer in your profession.0 -

I get their job is to get as much as they can for their clients. i fully understand that but the media's job is to drive interest. agents use the media as much for their gain as the media uses their clients. it's bullshit for an agent to call out the media and/or the fans in my opinion.Post edited by pjhawks on0 -

Alriiiiight. Scott Stapp let me back in, baby.
But, yeah, I don't fault agents or players wanting to maximize the amount of money they receive. Also, I'd say the greatest reason things are the way they are are because 1) the finances of baseball have swung in favor of the players back to the teams - I wouldn't call it "gaming" the system, they just know how much more valuable a GM is (andI'd say baseball GMs do not get paid remotely even close to what they're worth); and 2) the sport from a competitive standpoint needs refining/improvement - and this counteracts #1 as there is plenty of room to argue the idea of collusion in the sport.0 -

Almost every team could afford at least one of them if they wanted.0

I think there's room for improvements; haven't totally fleshed out this idea but maybe you have some kind of deadline for "preliminary" offers, possibly only for "qualified" players or "Type A or B" like they used to be labeled.0
