I kind of hate to burst the bubble, but apparently Sully was with Bush for less than six months. He was a trained service dog who assisted with tasks like opening the door and fetching objects. This is a great photo into which people read far more than is there.my small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf0 -

Not sure that party of the owner has anything to do with the dog's behaviour.my small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf0 -

Too busy to read that article right now but I’ll look at it later.
I hate how how we romanticize and anthropomorphize animal behaviour. Dogs are social, pack animals, so of course they form bonds within the pack. Those bonds do not mean to them what they mean to us.

Looking forward to being with the wonderful Bush family at Blair House today. The former First Lady will be coming over to the White House this morning to be given a tour of the Christmas decorations by Melania. The elegance & precision of the last two days have been remarkable!
It's a funeral, not a house tour.

How about the somber mood of the nation? Elegance and precision? Its all pomp and circumstance for him, isn't it? Hachikō was born on November 10, 1923 at a farm near the city of Ōdate, Akita Prefecture.[3] In 1924, Hidesaburō Ueno, a professor at the Tokyo Imperial University, brought him to live in Shibuya, Tokyo as his pet. Hachikō would meet Ueno at Shibuya Station every day after his commute home. This continued until May 21, 1925, when Ueno died of a cerebral hemorrhage while at work. From then until his death in March 8, 1935, Hachikō would return to Shibuya Station every day to await Ueno's return.
