Those are the racist misogynistic supporters that I’ve been told, repeatedly, don’t exist.
Of course there are racists and misogynistic people out there... but you're saying now that everybody that supports or approves of Trump is racist and misogynistic, all 40% of his approval rating is racist & sexist? That's just flat out ridiculous. Do you even know anybody that voted for Trump or that supports him? I do, and they are definitely not racist or misogynistic, and three that i know off the top of my head are actually educated professional women

Is it possible to paint with a broader brush? lol I'm not sure.

What was it that woke you to the rampant elitism?  My guess is was the knee-jerk screams of “racism” when Trump was trying to bring us together by pointing out that there are very fine people in both sides of the white nationalist rally in Charlottesville.  #closedmindedleft

Sorry, but you can say what you want rushing to the defence of the base. If you are not racist or a moron and you still back Trump... then you are morally bankrupt.

There's no getting around the fact that you have some really inferior quality existing within you if that is your preferred candidate.

Good point.  Was trying to think of an answer.  All I came up with voters you want to flip in the next election if you want to win.

It's difficult to understand or defend someone's voting FOR Trump.  Vote third party if you don't like D policies.  Or don't vote.  But when you vote for him, you are implicitly supporting him, his policies AND his approach to politics.  Does that make them all racist or ignorant? No, but it certainly means that there's a level of condoning the behavior and moral apathy.

Yes. It's quite an event if it snows, and even just a couple centimetres of snow causes chaos on the roads. If we get a really rare heavier snowfall, like more than a few inches, shit gets hairy. Public transit ceases to adequately function, people get stranded on the roads, etc. We are complete idiots when it comes to winter driving because we never have to do it normally, and most people don't bother investing in winter tires because there isn't enough snow and ice to justify the cost and bother. I'd say that we get snow perhaps a few times a winter, but it usually melts pretty fast. It is actually fairly rare for the temperatures to go below freezing during the day - the average temps in the winter are more like 4C - 8C (39F - 45F). Of course we get the rare cold snap - like clear and sunny and -5C or whatever, but it's considered abnormal whenever it happens, and it's kind of a big deal. I remember one year, maybe in 2007, that this one night when I went to a Canucks game it was -19C with the wind chill!!! That's the coldest it's even been here in my lifetime, and we almost died going home.
we winnipeggers laugh at the rest of the country when they have to deal with a little snow and cold. Toronto calls in the fucking military when they get 3 centimeters. we hook up the dogsled and go for coffee.

I think you should keep calling them one toothed Cletus white supremest neo-nazis.  That’s definitely a winning strategy for convincing them to consider your point of view and narrow the division.  There is no way a dem could lose with a base using such an eloquent, mature strategy.

They should consider a not-trump view because it is sane, rational and correct.

Why should you have to lure them out with nice words and hugs? Are you saying they are that dumb?

Point taken... but here is my answer

    1. November 2016 and trying to understand what happened
    2. The fact that the Trump voters i know personally are educated, not racist, and not sexist
    3. Turning off the fear factory known as cable news
    4. Self reflection

it really doesn't matter. at this point, being eloquent or calling them names will have the same effect: zero. it's independents and non-voters that need to be engaged.

Nope, as I said, the racist name calling is obviously the best strategy.  I would only call Swedes that think they should have a say in American politics dumb.  Is that how your mom lures you out of bed in the morning/mid afternoon?

You don't seem to a good job by yourselves in your defacto-banana-republic, so maybe some outside help could be beneficial? In time maybe a term like "gerrymandering" won't need to exist anymore.

I don’t think negative political adds make much difference beyond giving already hardliners a sense of validation.  That being said, I rarely watch actual broadcast TV, so I am pretty oblivious to what political commercial nonsense is being aired.  I do believe that much of today’s discourse and distrust is media driven...and purposeful.  Negativity is a positive thing when you are trying to hold on to viewers, just basic human psychology.

Maybe you are right, but the last place I’ll look for advice from is a 30 something living with their parents.  Maybe once they get their own lives sorted out, I’ll respect their decision about what “direction” to take.  Maybe someone that thinks for themselves and can communicate their thoughts outside of the realm of gifs....but maybe all swedes are similarly inept and insecure in doing so, just like all Trump voters are racist rednecks.

Meh, i’m good with Mcgruff and his stated reasons for living with his parents briefly.  That being said, and I mean no disrespect to Mcgruff, but I probably wouldn’t have taken financial or marriage advice from him during that time either.  Sounds like he genuinely wanted out of the situation he was in and put forth a lot of effort to get out of it instead of wasting energy whining about another country’s politics as a way of making him feel better about his own ineptitude.  I respect that Mcgruff values independence and self-sufficiency.  Why do you keep trying to drag him down with you?

Just the ones that think they live on such a high ground that they can throw stones at and mock others...from their parent’s house.  No need to take it personally, right? /s

Point taken... but here is my answer

    1. November 2016 and trying to understand what happened
    2. The fact that the Trump voters i know personally are educated, not racist, and not sexist
    3. Turning off the fear factory known as cable news
    4. Self reflection
    1. Electoral College...it's a red flag.  Russia and Jared Kushner understood laser targeted internet advertising and riling up all of middle America.   It was 2016, not 2006 or 1996. It was mostly Russia.   Steve Bannon and Brietbart didn't help.
    2. I don't know about that.  Accepting and allowing that behavior makes you complicit.
    3. This is a good 1st step.  The Weather Channel is worse,  Local/Network News was easy enough to ignore.  Read newspapers.
    4. Externalize that into ACTION.

TV doesn’t matter. You’re online - you’re being influenced by political ads in a variety of different forms all day long.
