Who here believes there are middle easterners mixed in? If so, how many are there? Who believes that the Dems are funding the caravan? Who believes there are riots in sanctuary cities in California?Post edited by Halifax2TheMax on09/15/1998 & 09/16/1998, Mansfield, MA; 08/29/00 08/30/00, Mansfield, MA; 07/02/03, 07/03/03, Mansfield, MA; 09/28/04, 09/29/04, Boston, MA; 09/22/05, Halifax, NS; 05/24/06, 05/25/06, Boston, MA; 07/22/06, 07/23/06, Gorge, WA; 06/27/2008, Hartford; 06/28/08, 06/30/08, Mansfield; 08/18/2009, O2, London, UK; 10/30/09, 10/31/09, Philadelphia, PA; 05/15/10, Hartford, CT; 05/17/10, Boston, MA; 05/20/10, 05/21/10, NY, NY; 06/22/10, Dublin, IRE; 06/23/10, Northern Ireland; 09/03/11, 09/04/11, Alpine Valley, WI; 09/11/11, 09/12/11, Toronto, Ont; 09/14/11, Ottawa, Ont; 09/15/11, Hamilton, Ont; 07/02/2012, Prague, Czech Republic; 07/04/2012 & 07/05/2012, Berlin, Germany; 07/07/2012, Stockholm, Sweden; 09/30/2012, Missoula, MT; 07/16/2013, London, Ont; 07/19/2013, Chicago, IL; 10/15/2013 & 10/16/2013, Worcester, MA; 10/21/2013 & 10/22/2013, Philadelphia, PA; 10/25/2013, Hartford, CT; 11/29/2013, Portland, OR; 11/30/2013, Spokane, WA; 12/04/2013, Vancouver, BC; 12/06/2013, Seattle, WA; 10/03/2014, St. Louis. Dude, they're not all just going to walk across the border. They're coming here to apply for asylum as refugees which means there is an extensive vetting process. These caravans have apparently been coming here for a couple decades. Nobody has cared about them until our president saw a story about it on Fox and Friends last year and decided it was yet another way he could drive a wedge into out political discourse.mcgruff10 said:

It has been declining for years. I think we actually had a net outflow of immigrants last year. It’s an issue that needs to be addressed but it’s nowhere near “national emergency” stays. Manufactured outrage by Trump to drive his racist base to the polls.mcgruff10 said:

There is currently net out-migration of Mexicans. This has been superseded by entry of more Central American residents, but projections are for this to also wane.mcgruff10 said:

Who needs proof when you have el Presidente's conspiracy theories to get us through the day. And with his absolute declaration of absence of proof of anything, he's got massive latitude for truth-stretching lying to his low-information supporters."I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." Totally - let's help them... Of course it's not problem-free. Such things always come with problems, logistical or otherwise. But I think it's worth it anyhow. We just have to keep working to try and solve those problems the best we can, figure out what is conceivably possible and what isn't. Obviously care must be taken to set up a system that doesn't lead to overwhelming the system to the point where the refugees aren't suffering more than they need to during the process.HughFreakingDillon said:

no. the "promise land" is NOT the US. the promise land is the closest geographical land mass with a government that doesn't slaughter its own people.mcgruff10 said:

But I think you have a point. Except I don’t have a white picket fence.
So anyhow, what I struggle with is these people are leaving there homes for financial reasons or local crime reasons. They are asylum seekers fleeing war, a tyrannical government, etc. And the man they are continuing to pass through other countries to get specifically to the US. So, I’m unsure what I think should really happen when they show up. If you let everyone in, how big is the next one? But if you don’t what will these people do, how will they live? And should they be let in at the expense of other immigration? There is no easy choice.
congrats, you won.Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer0 -
