In response to the Canada comments, doesn't Canada have much more strict immigration Laws?
And the ones that get there illegally, do they get all the benefits illegal immigrants here get? Free education, free food and free healthcare (if you abuse the system)? I don't see those things happening anywhere else. I also don't see any other developed countries with the relaxed immigration laws that we have. So why is the US criticized so much when we do more for illegal immigrants than most?
I don't agree with everything that happened during the separation policy a few months ago, but I'm talking about everything before that and since. Why are we expected to take everyone in when no one else is? And why are we criticized by everyone who isn't willing to do as much as we do?
It is difficult to get into Canada, they wouldn't last 10 minutes if we tried to drop a busload off, but we're criticized for enforcing our own boarders? The differences I see don't add up to me.Post edited by mace1229 on0 -

Not too many people opening their doors and prepare welcoming feasts from what I’ve seen. Seems like it is ramping up the Cruz vote too.Post edited by PJPOWER on0 -

But I'll never tell anyone they can't or shouldn't joke about something, no matter how distasteful it is to me. #cosbyWhat bothers me much more is that some people here don't quite seem to think of these people as all the way human. The tone suggests they are only capable of thinking of them in an abstract, totally disconnected way. It's sad.Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

As a Canadian I have no problem taking in legitimate refugees. I didn't have a problem with Syrian refugees coming here so why would I have a problem with American refugees?0
-
The people here that don't want refugees are the same people who would turn away shiploads of Jews in the 30's. Its pretty shameful.0

There has been a significant uptick in refugee claimants coming to Canada through the border with the US. I understand that most are from Haiti and Nigeria, due to changes in how the US treats those seeking asylum from those countries now. I don’t have an issue with it, either.my small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf0

I support doing everything possible to help refugees fleeing from the kinds of horrible conditions this caravan is fleeing from. I think they are worth some time, effort, and tax dollars. Stats show that refugees on the whole tend to contribute well to their new countries too, in the long run.All I would ask of our government is to be more strategic about where refugees go once they arrive. There needs to be a system where a ton of refugees aren't coming into a city already suffering from an unaffordable housing crisis. That is bad for everyone, especially the refugees. If the government set up supports for them in strategic locations across the country, that is where they'd go.Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
