Seeing Metallica this spring (first time) I'm a bit disappointed their return to Sweden next summer is still under the "Hardwired" banner.

Would have hoped it would be something else and the show as a result being "shaken" up.

I guess I'll still go though, being in my city and all - but I don't feel the need to see them drum in unison again. Haha.

They've been known to tour for 2 years straight promoting the same album.

As for "mixing it up"?  They change a song or two in the set list, nothing crazy.
  • Bought tickets.

Hoping for WHEREVER I MAY ROOOOAAAAAM

I just watched 'Some Kind of Monster' for the first time last week. What the fuck? It seemed SO put on by the band members - except for James's addiction of course.

listened to Hardwired for the first time last night. Maybe I wasn't in the right headspace, or maybe since I'm not really a metal guy anymore, but it just sounded a lot of the same. one track kind of blended into another. Then again, I'm like the only person on the planet that actually liked St Anger though.

Bought tickets for their show in Finland next summer. 109 euros for the Golden Circle. Not that bad.

But what is interesting their "Black Ticket" is only 598 euros. It gives access to as many shows as you want, in the Golden Circle. And they haven't even sold out on those yet. Imagine if Pearl Jam offered something like this. Seeing Metallica once or twice is more than enough for me though.

Doesn't the criticism pretty much boils down to:

    1. No solos on the album
    2. Lars drum sound
    3. "My lifestyle determines my death style"

yes on 1 and 2. #3 always makes me laugh when I'm singing along to it. kind of like "rocking horse of time" does.

St. Anger would be a lot better if it weren't for the crappy production all around including Lars' trash can snare.  They aren't terrible songs.  I haven't really heard any of the songs live so maybe they sound better that way.

I don't know what it is, but I rather enjoy St. Anger besides some of the cringe worthy production. Frantic is one of my favorites songs of theirs period. I can always hear that guitar riff ripping away when I think of that song. Shoot Me Again is killer too. I listened to it a lot and I remember it came out right before I caught my first PJ show that summer. Good memories. Load is still their best album post 1990. It was a lot more solid than the Black album overall. I remember the let down of flipping to side B on that cassette.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Think the Black ticket is just normal GA.

Edit: it is GC, my bad. Great ticket option.

I was at last night's show in State College and I must say, it was one of the most enjoyable concert experiences I've had. I was on the floor, and with that round stage set-up where James goes from microphone to microphone, there's literally a great spot for everybody. Check out how close I was....

The show of course was great. I haven't seen Metallica in six years so I didn't mind hearing lots of songs I've heard before. The usual stuff (Master, Creeping, etc.) was great as always, but the songs from Hardwired were awesome too. They've been at it for 37 fucking years...playing thrash metal. It's insane.

And I thought it was cool as hell that simply with the purchase of my tickets, I got was mailed a CD copy of Hardwired. Already had one...but that's still really cool. And then, I learn that with my ticket barcode number, I can get a free MP3 download of the show. That's sweet.

Philly! We’re coming back to celebrate 93.3 WMMR Philadelphia’s 50th birthday with you on October 25th at the Wells Fargo Center! Fan Club Ticket Pre-Sale is Tuesday, May 29th beginning at 9 AM EDT and Public On-Sale is Friday, June 1st at 12 PM EDT. For more information visit Metallica.com. See you there! #WMMR50

tix were a little too much for me.  (about $150 for one ticket in the "nose bleed seats") so i passed.  WMMR is giving away tix this weekend on the radio and came close tonight.  Had to be caller #15 to win, i was caller #11, d'oh!
pretty awesome WMMR is doing two ticket raids right near on Saturday for the philly show.
damn, didn't win.  They were giving away tix every hour so that was like 4 opportunities.  Only about 20 or so people showed up and each one so had a semi-decent shot.  Oh well, might look for a cheap ticket on stubhub or something as the date draws nearer.
I could have sworn the show was on a Friday (it's actually on Thursday).  Didn't get tix, they were too much.  First Metallica show i'm missing since I first saw them near me.  Bought tix to see Garbage that night instead.
