Yup.
Unfortunately, back in non-quippy land, immigrants are less likely to kill you than the average American, while gun owners are more likely to kill you than the average American.
And I believe the issue is those who immigrate illegally, not all immigrants. It doesn’t matter what the rate of violence is within illegal immigrants, as it should be zero since they should not be here in the first place. 1000 crimes from illegal immigrants is 1000 more crimes than there should be in the US.

I'm not saying I agree with them, but I can see their point.
I can say "policy should not be driven by fear" all I want, but then that should be across the board, not just on issues I pick and choose. because let's face it, gun control proponents (such as myself) are driven by, primarily, fear. call it safety. call it empathy for the families. but the root of all that is fear. fear of being killed by something that should be controllable.By The Time They Figure Out What Went Wrong, We'll Be Sitting On A Beach, Earning Twenty Percent.0 -

it happens daily.... everywhere... all of the time.... but we all know who Mollie is nationally, and are discussing her here now because of why I wonder? this case was regional and became national as soon as the perp was undocumented, how is this not obvious? its feeding a xenophobic fever spreading across this country and a lot of the globe right now, that's why we all know who this poor girl was
there are approximately 17,000 murders annually in the USA, how many victims can you name?
drilling for fear, keeps the job simple
National before she was found.National means relating to the whole of a country or nation rather than to part of it or to other nations.while yes this story was showed in Philly, it was a local news station in philly. what that means is that the only people who saw that report were people in Philly. now if was CBS news and hence seen by everyone in the country then yes I would consider that national news.
Although ill I’ll admit I don’t live everywhere so I’m sure there are some places that maybe didn’t get a sniff of it. But it was pretty broadly shared. The fact that a local station in philly has the news is actually pretty telling if it’s national news. I mean you think they just randomly pick stories from Iowa?Post edited by cincybearcat onhippiemom = goodness0 -

Do you think they were covering it because they figured illegal immigration figured into it?
Edit: I will add the fact that she seemed to be a nice kid with no terrible background and a college student would certainly grab a lot of people’s attention as they can related.
