But since you brought up the issue of GOP voters, it’s hard to ignore the statement in the article that 46% of republicans polled were in favour of Little, who is completely open about his anti-Semitic, Holocaust-denying, and yes, Nazi beliefs. 46%. So yes, maybe we can’t say that the majority of republican voters support Nazi policies, but 46% is a pretty sizeable minority.
Sorry but the percentages just don’t match up with reality of where real anti-semitism comes from these days. The lesson from Auschwitz is that it comes from everywhere...one should always be on guard...it will never go away. In practicality however today’s Jews know that it is far more likely to come from the left then the right. Sure Nazi’s exist on the right but jews have far less to fear from them coming to power compared to a toxic brew of leftist socialist in bed with the Islamists. Around the world today Jews, LGBTQ, christians etc. are under attack from Islamists who get far more support from the political left then the right. It is Islamists in europe and elswhere (with leftist support) that are the worst perpetrators and Jews know that this will come to America too in time. It is the GOP in America who are looking out for this while the Democratic party is moving slowly in the opposite direction. Lastly with specific reference to the Holocaust jews know that it is Iran who is openly declaring to start the next one. They were absolutely against the Iran deal as they believe it bought this regime time and used the money for nefarious purposes. While American jews do mot support Trump they support him on leaving the Iran deal. It today’s GOP that understands Never Again while the democrats want to help sustain the iranian Mullahs who openly call for destruction of the jewish people. So throw your percentages around all you want but the real/effective/dangerous anti-semitism is in bed with the Democratic party right now and not with these one off lunatics who manage to get themselves nominated in heavily democratic districts.
So you’re take away from visiting Auschwitz is to become more bigoted toward Muslims and ramp up your fear related beliefs surrounding liberals?
Uhh...no. I didn’t even use the word “muslim”. Nor did I use the word “liberal”.
Oh. My bad. You used the terms “leftist” and “Islamists”.

It says a lot that your only retort is my word choice. The meaning remains
Wrong. The “terms” define the “meaning”. You needed to paint me as someone that is targeting muslims and liberals. A tactic like this is very common on here. It’s very common in the media. It’s very common on the left. This is just another textbook example and I thank you for that. Your “retort” requied to change my “terms” in order to distort my “meaning”. It is you that has no response to a very rational argument which is that while hate for jews will always exist on all sides the next Holocaust is far more likely to come from an Islamist enabled left vs a Nazi enabled right.

“Don’t tell me that words don’t matter!”

    Barak Obama
You’re free to clarify your “meaning” of “leftist” and “islamist” then and further your point. My response to your reaction to your visit is that rather than gaining enlightenment on the psychology behind what made the Nazi regime occur, you perpetuate the actual dynamic that was a play in the 30s woth fear based statements about people you have labelled leftists and Islamist.

I am well enlightened about the psychology but it would be a massive mistake to assume that the next holocaust can only occur in a similar matter. It can occur anywhere that anti-semitism exists. The lesson is how very normal and educated people easily perpetuated such an atrocity. The early anti-semitic rhetoric was the sign that was ignored. That type of anti-semitism exists today. We know who is teaching in their schools and where. We know which houses of worship preach it to their congregations. We know which governments endorse it. To ignore this is to fail to learn the lesson. You have your head in the sand and disgustingly point at today’s GOP when the finger should be pointed elswhere. It is not biggoted to call this type of hate out and you are not a good person if you choose to deflect or label those who call it out. At some point you become an enabler. At some point you become complicit.

This is the lesson. Get enlightened.

Interesting that you only equate the holocaust with the destruction of Jews when there were Roma, gay and political victims as well. Why is that? More trivia for you, Professor?

I'm going to spin some Sex Pistols in honor of BS' resiliency to be the opposition at all costs. There must be some level of weird satisfaction you're getting out of all this. You're really entrenched.

It is not biggoted to call this type of hate out and you are not a good person if you choose to deflect or label those who call it out. At some point you become an enabler. At some point you become complicit.

Classic Halifax. Quick to post without even wondering what Kerry’s position was on the Russia-German pipeline only a few short years ago.

Oh right. Kerry was against the pipeline before he was for it.

Are you referring to ISIS and Iran when you say, “right now?” Or is the Saudis who Israeli is now aligned with? Muslim Brotherhood or Hezbollah? Or every Muslim country?

So you're aware of the psychology of it, yet at the same time appear to be anti-Islamist similar to an anti-semite is anti-Jew.

“There are good people on both sides.” “The Jews will not replace us.” Not good people.
Interesting that you only equate the holocaust with the destruction of Jews when there were Roma, gay and political victims as well. Why is that? More trivia for you, Professor?

I actually specifically mentioned LGBTQ above. Read back...if you can. I also mentioned that if you look who is murdering jews, LGBTQ, and christians right now it is quite obvious where the threat is likely to come from. Please read Halifax. I beg you. At least try.

“Quite obvious.” Yea, it’s from those that look the other way and refuse to acknowledge the threat that is Team Trump Treason and continue to believe “there were good people on both sides.” Not good people.

Are you referring to ISIS and Iran when you say, “right now?” Or is the Saudis who Israeli is now aligned with? Muslim Brotherhood or Hezbollah? Or every Muslim country?

Finally a good question Trebek. Definitely not every muslim country. Egypt, Jordan, Saudi and some others are pretty much openly partnering with Israel and likely will for years to come. This is huge but of course subsections of their populations will have to be dealt with and places that teach hate will have to be reformed. Iran and ISIS are definitely a problem although ISIS now less so. Hezbollah, Hamas and other terror groups are problematic as well but they mainly get funding from Iran.

So...listen closely...NOT all muslims. You hear that Beavers?

The current regime will never amount to the 4th Reich. For one, I don't feel that they are as calloused as made out to be- even as cold hearted as they have been to this point in time.

But it is important to point out the similarities between this regime in their formative years and other evil regimes in their's. In fact it is incumbent upon us to do so given the that left unabated... things 'could' take a few twist and turns that would leave us wondering "how?" The risk attached to the 'could' component of my last sentence is too great to ignore.

One of the things keeping this regime in check is the amount of people expressing outrage for every troubling policy that to this point has paralleled other evil regimes in their own way (ie. the dehumanization of some people). I don't think mocking these people is cool. I think supporting the opposition is wise.

The people expressing outrage have seen it happen before and don't need to be punched in the face before they recognize a blow is coming- they've learned from history. The 'lest we forget' piece was not lost on them.

Meanwhile, back in reality Team Mueller continues his investigation of Team Trump Treason with a trial set to begin and guilty pleas and cooperative witnesses secured.

Follow the money, from Russia with Love and a PTape, all the way to impeachment.

I want to be drinking with you if this day comes to fruition. There won't be anyone filled with more joy. I'm sure of it.
Olive gardens have fantastic happy hours as you well know. The three of us could meet somewhere in the middle (Thunder Bay?) And celebrate!!!

Fdr, probably top three presidents in the history of the us, only got one percent? Shows what a poor poll this is.  And yes I realize people have to be at least 80 years old to remember what fdr did.

of course, its just a poll of only 2000 or so people and it does state that Obama got 20% at the time in his presidency to Trump's 19.  So Trump has a chance to do better.  Here's some details:

The Pew Research Center asked Americans who they thought did the best job as president in their lifetime. The top pick: former President Barack Obama.

Obama was the choice of 44 percent of the respondents in the poll, which was published Wednesday. Bill Clinton came in second with 33 percent and Ronald Reagan was third with 32 percent. Although not yet even halfway through his first term, President Donald Trump got 19 percent to place him in fourth place, ahead of both Bushes, John F. Kennedy and Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

According to Pew, Obama got 20 percent at about the same point in his presidency.

The survey was conducted from June 5-12 and 2,002 people were asked to give both their first and second choices. It has an error margin of 2.6 points.

Meanwhile, back in reality Team Mueller continues his investigation of Team Trump Treason with a trial set to begin and guilty pleas and cooperative witnesses secured.

Follow the money, from Russia with Love and a PTape, all the way to impeachment.
Add to that an ignored subpoena by Lisa Page, possible testimony by Strozk tomorrow and news on the dossier...

“I never thought I’d live to see this!” she exclaimed, according to Davis’ translation. “Neither the USSR nor Russia, who tried many times to drive the wedge between transatlantic allies, but Washington is doing everything to break down the foundations of transatlantic alliance and unity.”

Hmmm...seems like a short term celebration. Getting NATO members to both increase military spending and not buy gas from russia certainly can’t help them in the long term.
