2016 Single

I suppose soon-ish? They warned everyone to make sure their mailing info is up to date when? Like back in July or something? Surely they will make sure it's sent before the year is over... or else it's going to be pretty weird to have a 2017 single.

I think it should be an original song on Side A. It's been a long time since they did that. Enough with the live recordings of songs we've already heard a million times and that are already available on youtube.

Now it's getting late.

Maybe another thread will help?  It's worth a try.

I don't think calling it the annual single helped, because it started as a Christmas single, which means it came out at the end of the year.   That gives you a margin of error of a week before it comes out a year late   I don't think it really made any difference going from xmas single to annual single, because the 2016 annual single will still come out in 2017 (maybe.. possibly 2018?).

My "Reach Down" was my first one. It came around Easter, as did several others. A few years after that, it was more around June or July.

My Betterman/Someday at Christmas record came in late January.

I believe the first one which was analog-only actually came right at Christmas.

It has been 22 months since I paid my 2016 membership (Jan 2016).
It will be 16 months until I pay for my 2019 membership (Jan 2019).

Closer to paying for 2019 than when I paid for 2016, yet we still don't have a 2016 single.

I personally think each year's single and Deep should be already be in stock and ready to ship Feb 1 of that year.  For example, 2016 single begins shipping 2/1/16 (so those who renew in Jan will ship Feb 1, then those who renew thereafter ship on the date of renewal - just like your bootleg code & membership item).  Be ahead of the game, not years behind.

That's how other fan clubs I've joined do it (like u2).  They get their annual gift prepped up right at the beginning  of the year.   It works well.   10c seemed to struggled with calling it the Christmas single but not being able to mail it out until months after Christmas.   I'm not sure renaming it the annual single helped as it now comes way after the membership that paid for it.
