Word is the Pentagon did not know. The Armed Services committee absolutely did not know. Plus there was no planning or thought. What do you do with existing soldiers? Is it immediate discharge? What if they are in a forward area right this moment? What about pensions, medical treatment that has already started, etc. There are a ton of questions that affect real, live, living people.
