You can put me in that column (although I didn't vote) but the neocon establishment did not. He was their last choice in the primaries and following that some didn't vote while others went to Clinton or McMullin where possible. The base didn't follow the hawks and chose Trump over Clinton as an obvious choice considering the previous 8 years.my2hands said:

And now that Handel won republicans will be more likely to support the Trump platform going forward. The GOP healthcare bill was not a drag on Handel and along with tax reform it will likely pass.Go Beavers said:
The first three things you listed are the only campaign promises he's followed through on so far.BS44325 said:
Conservative judges, pulled out of TPP, pulled out of Paris, drastic reduction in illegal immigration, energy exploration, reduction in government regulations, obamacare repeal/replace a third of the way to completion, economy generally doing well, and on and on. Most things are moving in the right direction as promised to his voters. In their eyes he is being effective in delivering what was promised and more is to come.dignin said:
How is he being effective? By what measure?BS44325 said:
He is being effective...just not in the way that you would like.dignin said:
I get that part....but what is more important? Getting re-elected in 3.5 years or being an effective president?BS44325 said:
It allows him to maintain his outsider persona while keeping his base energized. He ran against the republican party not with it. His crossover/previous Obama voters aren't interested in what makes a republican's life harder.dignin said:
I don't see how that makes him sane. Every time he tweets something it almost always makes his job and the republicans job of getting shit done harder.BS44325 said:
It is very much sane. It is essentially how he won the Presidency over the Clinton money machine. I don't like it either but whether politically it currently does him more harm then good is the open question. You were all wrong before...maybe you are wrong again? Maybe? Nah.PJ_Soul said:

So the question I have is, is trump cutting edge with his use of twitter....or am I just seeing his tweets more than Obama because of how stupid they are?
Cause if he is using it more, he is changing the political landscape moving forward. And it can be a very effective tool. Now we just need someone who isn't a tool using it as president!!

No he cannot. All he will say was he won the election (despite 3 million more people voting against him) yada yada yada. His tweets makes him and as a result, our country look like an irrational idiot. I love how they've been cited by the courts as reasons for blocking his travel ban. I'm sure they will come back to haunt him in some way with the investigations as well.
I can't believe the president of this country is so dumb.
Logic and reason need not apply.
Even after months of all his crazy, they still support him. It's a blind ignorant base. Almost useless to debate them. How do you debate when facts aren't necessary?

Wow, a republican wins a republican district, in a republican state in a republican region of the country, perhaps one of the most conservative states in the nation, and the republican candidate had to spend $20MM to eek out a 5.5% victory margin and you act like it's the second coming of Ronald Reagan's 49 state victory. This is as meaning full as those disappearing headlines you blathered on about. Healthcare didn't drag the repub down because nobody knows what the fuck is in the bill and tax reform is dead after all the tax breaks that benefit Trump are exposed. Add Russian collusion and obstruction of justice and 2018 will be a vastly different field of play.BS44325 said:

Data and knowledge of who these people actually are. Many on here have no idea the difference between a tea party conservative, a neocon, a social con, etc. Right now in fact you just lump everybody into one general group called the alt-right. The "neocons" are a specific subset and those representing the neocon position, mainly McCain, Graham, Rubio along with the intellectuals of the Weekly Standard, National Review etc. all oppossed Trump until the end. Many participated in #nevertrump and came up with a scheme to deny Trump the electoral college via a hoped for McMullin win in Utah. In the end though the neocon voter decided a Hillary victory would be a worse outcome so turned out for Trump even though they disagreed with him in foreign policy. That is the category I fall into.Go Beavers said:

You can put me in that column (although I didn't vote) but the neocon establishment did not. Conversely, why did the repubs have to spend $20MM in a red district, in a red state in a red region of the country? Any R next to any name should have won that seat. And looks like it might be a 3-4% win afterall. Whoopdidofuckinghoohaday. Stupid is as stupid does, I reckon.BS44325 said:
Then why did the dems waste $23 million on it? They could have used that money for healthcare, education or refugees? Instead they flushed it right down the toilet in a race you suggest they never had a chance of winning.Halifax2TheMax said:
A seat held by a republican since 1979 and you think it's some bellwether of how great Trump is? His 38% won't carry the dayBS44325 said:
Yeah. Sure looks that way.Halifax2TheMax said:
Yea, the district that gave us Newt the Beaut should be going 70-30 or 80-20 for the repub but because of Trump, it's likely to end up 2-3%, maybe less. By November 2018, Trump will be untenable.dignin said:

It is very much sane. It is essentially how he won the Presidency over the Clinton money machine. I don't like it either but whether politically it currently does him more harm then good is the open question. You were all wrong before...maybe you are wrong again? Maybe? Nah.PJ_Soul said:
Let's cut out the bullshit. The way Trump uses Twitter, in his position, is fucking insane. Literally.Go Beavers said:

I don't have an issue with the president, any president, utilizing social media for official statements. the way trump uses it though, it's as if twitter is the official information supplier of the white house. it just seems so.....nontraditional. unofficial. however you want to put it.cincybearcat said:
I gotta agree with the first part...the POTUS needs to get in front of a camera on this.my2hands said:When 7 military service personnel die in an accident... or in any way, frankly... I expect the POTUS to give a fucking statement. And not through Twitter like a 15 year old. Period.
However, if used appropriately, I could see him sending a twitter message first. It's just that he can't do that without being a 15 year old.
So the question I have is, is trump cutting edge with his use of twitter....or am I just seeing his tweets more than Obama because of how stupid they are?
Cause if he is using it more, he is changing the political landscape moving forward. And it can be a very effective tool. Now we just need someone who isn't a tool using it as president!!09/15/1998 & 09/16/1998, Mansfield, MA; 08/29/00 08/30/00, Mansfield, MA; 07/02/03, 07/03/03, Mansfield, MA; 09/28/04, 09/29/04, Boston, MA; 09/22/05, Halifax, NS; 05/24/06, 05/25/06, Boston, MA; 07/22/06, 07/23/06, Gorge, WA; 06/27/2008, Hartford; 06/28/08, 06/30/08, Mansfield; 08/18/2009, O2, London, UK; 10/30/09, 10/31/09, Philadelphia, PA; 05/15/10, Hartford, CT; 05/17/10, Boston, MA; 05/20/10, 05/21/10, NY, NY; 06/22/10, Dublin, IRE; 06/23/10, Northern Ireland; 09/03/11, 09/04/11, Alpine Valley, WI; 09/11/11, 09/12/11, Toronto, Ont; 09/14/11, Ottawa, Ont; 09/15/11, Hamilton, Ont; 07/02/2012, Prague, Czech Republic; 07/04/2012 & 07/05/2012, Berlin, Germany; 07/07/2012, Stockholm, Sweden; 09/30/2012, Missoula, MT; 07/16/2013, London, Ont; 07/19/2013, Chicago, IL; 10/15/2013 & 10/16/2013, Worcester, MA; 10/21/2013 & 10/22/2013, Philadelphia, PA; 10/25/2013, Hartford, CT; 11/29/2013, Portland, OR; 11/30/2013, Spokane, WA; 12/04/2013, Vancouver, BC; 12/06/2013, Seattle, WA; 10/03/2014, St. Louis.
