yes, the MSG system was totally fucked up. Seriously, if they are going ot sell posters, you sell them IN THE ARENA. This way only people with tickets can get them. None of this on the street nonsense.
Then you have people get a wrist band, pay for it, adn then pick up their poster after the show. You set up 3 booths, ground level, 1st level, 2nd level - not rocket science.
And yes, XL and XXL sizes were nowhere to be found. Just plain dumb.4.7.94 9.29.96 10.1.96 6.29.98 8.20,22,23,25,26.98 9.10,11,13,15,16,19.98 8.3,4,6.00 8.23-25,27,28,29.00, 10.4.00, 10.9.00 4.29,30.03, 5.3.03 6.29.03 7.8,9,12.03 9.15,16.05; 6.24,25,27,28,30.080 -
now that i think back to that whole fiasco dealing with the posters, there was some dude in a tan shirt yelling at some bum-ass guy "how am i trying to work a hustle" (exact quote and i know it sounds really dumb). they were hanging out behind the staircase that people take to the wa-mu theater and the doors to where we picked up our tix. i didnt think much of it because everyone was pissed about the whole situation but i think that guy might have been ninersfan0

Makes no difference to me. The folks here are pissed because he is beating the system. Do I think its fair? No, do I care? Not really. He can do whats he wants and can get away with as far as I am concerned. I was just merely pointing out he didnt have the usual plethora of listings is all. I just find it odd that PJ have probably played NYC and the surrounding area dozens of times. I would think by know they would know what the demand for posters is in that area, and print accordingly. To not do so is basically handing over money to guys like this.0 -
it wouldn't be possible for them to do this if they didn't sell posters to idiots that could walk off the street. Exactly my point....
This witch hunt is pretty stupid IMO.
So a guy wants to waste hours of his time gobbling up a bunch of concert poster to sell on Ebay. No difference than the people who wait in line for new video game systems or Tickle Me Elmo dolls.....
You people take these poster way too seriously!

stickfig13 wrote:Why is it a big deal if the guy wants to buy a shit load of posters and sell them?
The reason is that then there aren't enough for all the other fans who want to buy them. Why should one person get 10 or 20 or 50, and others get none? I'm not even hardcore into the posters - I buy one sometimes, if I like the artwork, and didn't try for one for MSG, but I feel bad for people who really want one and don't get it simply because of some kind of corruption of others who get too many just to make extra money.R.i.p. maybe a second variant run that could be distinguished from those sold at the show could be sold later in greater quantity... thats up to the artists though... theyd have to be able to handle the traffic... which we all know they cant0 -

You have made the best point here, it seems like they are just as responsible for causing all this bullshit. They should just have a shit load of posters... and heaven forbid they have leftovers that could be sold in the goods section...2000-10-28 San Bernardino

If you really want a poster you can wait a year or so and get it from the 10C sale..so what people really are paying for on ebay is instant gratification in having the poster right away. The buy one to frame and one to flip thing has been going on forever. But I think it is wrong to get stacks of posters just to resell, at the cost of those at the show who wanted to get a poster to frame.
Take the Ed lighters as an example. Some people paid over $200 on ebay cause they had to have one right away. Now weeks later you can still buy them in the goods section. People need to stop going crazy buying posters from resellers right after the show. Calm down a bit. Wait awhile and the prices will go down..or you may get lucky and get what you missed at a 10C sale.Bridge Benefit 1994, San Francisco 1995, San Diego 1995 1 & 2, Missoula 1998, Los Angeles 2000, San Diego 2000, Eddie Vedder/Beck 2/26/2002, Santa Barbara 2003, Irvine 2003, San Diego 2003, Vancouver 2005, Gorge 2005, San Diego 2006, Los Angeles 2006 1 & 2, Santa Barbara 2006, Eddie Vedder 4/10/08, Eddie Vedder 4/12/08, Eddie Vedder 4/15/08, 7/12/2008, SF 8/28/09, LA 9/30/09, LA 10/1/09, LA 10/06/09, LA 10/07/09, San Diego 10/09/09, Eddie Vedder 7/6/2011, Eddie Vedder 7/8/2011, PJ20 9/3/2011, PJ20 9/4/2011, Vancouver 9/25/2011, San Diego 11/21/13, LA 11/24/13, Ohana 9/25/21, Ohana 9/26/21, Ohana 10/1/21, EV 2/17/22, LA Forum 5/6/22, LA Forum 5/7/22, EV 10/1/22, EV 9/30/230 -

sgossard3 wrote:to just up the print run is harmful to the legitimacy of the ARTISTS and their ART... itd be great if everyone could get one of these as easily as stickers... but from the artists' POV i understand why they dont want to just make 1,000,000 per show... its the difference between commercial art (advertisement, packaging etc) which isnt taken seriously by the art community and ART rock posters
Please it is a $25 concert poster not a Van Gogh. Although even a Van Gogh I can walk into a poster store and buy a print of Starry Night, but that doesn't take away from the legitimacy of the original work. Making more wont hurt anyone's legitimacy, it might cut down on the amount of messages posted about posters, which might cut down on the hype but that is about it. Plus concert posters are supposed to be advertisement (or at least the were orinally were).0
