#NOTOKAY Movement Is Born

In just the first three days since Kelly Oxford's post, over 27 million people have either responded to or visited her twitter page. Over 100 hits per second. While I don't have the data on how many of those hits were helpful in spreading the message vs negative in nature, that is pretty darn powerful and it is important that the movement continues to grow.Star Lake 00 / Pittsburgh 03 / State College 03 / Bristow 03 / Cleveland 06 / Camden II 06 / DC 08 / Pittsburgh 13 / Baltimore 13 / Charlottesville 13 / Cincinnati 14 / St. Paul 14 / Hampton 16 / Wrigley I 16 / Wrigley II 16 / Baltimore 20 / Camden 22 / Baltimore 24 / Raleigh I 25 / Raleigh II 25 / Pittsburgh I 250

How does calling men the problem of the world today help any conversation?
You have embraced the sweeping generalizations when they suit you.
My generalization is a hell of a lot more accurate than your favourite (all Muslims are dangerous).
Men are the problem. No question. We are wired differently than women. We're not as nurturing and get hostile when our existence is threatened."My brain's a good brain!"0 -
Since nearly all violence is committed by men, pointing that out helps the conversation. When people want to talk about making things better, you have to first be able to talk about the problem.PJfanwillneverleave1 said:

Just find it hard to be accepting that men are the problem full stop.
It puts men at a lesser position if you will while trying to be open to a problem.

Though my personal experience in this vein has been at the "hands" of men, the perpetrators themselves are the problem, regardless of gender, regardless of whether involved actively or passively (those on the sidelines who deny or defend or absolve themselves simply by looking the other way).PJfanwillneverleave1 said:

Yes hedo, the shame in these sexual abuse/assault cases is so hard to overcome. In my case if that guy was able to touch me in any way we would've been fighting but he didn't and so I chose to run. Then just never spoke of the matter till something dear to me came up that brought out what happened so long ago. Abuse can the same....just having the strength to say I need some help, therapy to deal with this so one can move on with life. It's one of the toughest things in this life to put in the past. Like with the accusers of Trump it appears the anger towards him denying unconditionally he assaulted, that these women are lying. Well that denial brought them out to say eneough is enough that these women apparently know differently than what Trump is telling the world.hedonist said:Rock on, g. Thank you for sharing (and baring) that of yourself. Doesn't matter if you're male or female, no one deserves to be subjected to that shit. Freeing ourselves from that veil of experience and confusion and goddamned shame is liberating, and it really can, does, make a difference not only to ourselves but to others, to do so.
Fuck knows many of us kept silent for too long.
