Anyone have the pre-sale code for the recently released batch of tour dates? The pre-sales happen tomorrow and I'm hoping to score tix to the Birmingham show. Thanks!

If I remember right, the the password was "sailor" for the last batch of tour dates. The pre-sale password for the show here in Minneapolis came from the venue and not from the artist. I'm on the Sturgill Simpson email list. If I get something I'll let you know.

The first rogan was good but he likes to talk about himself and his own interests too much for me.

Maron does the same thing, but for some reason it's okay. I'm not sure why, but I like it.

I remember talking to my cousin (who introduced me to Maron and WTF) about the Obama WTF. He's an Obama guy (I'm not) and he asked me what I thought of the interview. My response: Obama didn't let Maron talk enough. haha

Interesting. I always thought his podcast transferred well to his TV show and standup. I love all three.

He sold out the Birmingham show in around twenty minutes. Not entirely surprised but still.... :open_mouth: Show is at Alabama Theater which seats 2,500. I was fortunate to score orchestra seats....looking forward to September which will be a good nugget for post-Wrigley music withdrawal :smiley:

    Enjoy the show!

I've listened to his new album a couple of times and it's already growing on me. Not a huge fan of some of the more country sounding songs, but the blusey ones are killer. I need to check out his first two albums now.

Check out Metamodern first. Sounds like it'll be more in your wheelhouse as HTM is more firmly rooted in the country genre.

His Sunday Valley stuff is what originally got me. You can find some good videos on YouTube. He can slay an electric guitar.

Meta Modern Sounds is one of my favourite albums EVER. It's very much in the country genre but don't let that scare you away after your first listen. Give it time, it's amazing.

Tickets for Sturgill in August (Edmonton) Can't wait!!!

btw - Thanks to the OP for this thread, it's how I discovered Sturgill.

Caught his show last night at First Avenue in Minneapolis. Absolutely killed it although he said he was sick. The new material translate well live and the added horn section adds a nice touch to the older material. Both "Sailor's Guide to Earth" and Metamodern Sounds were played in their entirety. This was my third time seeing him and each show has had different vibes/feels to them, which is cool. Check him out if you get the chance.
