Been trying to listen to the album as a whole til it gets good and broke in. That 1-2-3 punch at the beginning is great and what seemed like a bit of a lull with Good Look has almost become the centerpiece now and it definitely solidified that front half. Second half kicks ass too, but I just haven’t listened to it as much.Anybody watched the accompanying film? Pretty dang cool and wherever the thread about it being an updated DTE video is spot on. Even the Netflix subtitle generator can’t make out some of the lyrics...lol
I’m trying to think of a bigger transition from one album to the next and I’m really struggling to come up with one. Familiar enough to keep around the people that have paid attention to his trajectory but so fresh he’s gonna grab a lot of new fans.0 -

Anybody notice how right down the middle the stereo panning is? It’s not dead centered but there’s nothing extreme and I’d venture to say nothing even moderately panned. Really noticed with side 2 but it’s so uniform I have to guess side 1 is similar.0

I'd expected to the whole thing to be similar to 'Sing Along' and rendered as anime. IMO, the movie as a whole benefitted from them mixing up the presentation styles. It remains to be seen how the album stacks up with his previous ones, but, at the very least, the creativity that went into S&F is next level.
In his recent documentary Ken Burns described the beauty and genius of country music as being rooted in a form of music that was almost boundless in the styles and sounds into which it could/can shapeshift. Mike D, in the Beasties' autobiography, says something similar about hip hop. Sturgill has tapped into that legacy.0 -
Cranked through this this morning again. Just incredible. Have to snicker when I read through comments in Tool threads talking about how they’re still evolving. THIS is true evolution.0

After seeing last night's setlist, I am getting pumped for the Brooklyn show. Anyone else here attending?0

Love the new album.
Ate some edibles on Saturday night and watched the Netflix anime movie on the big screen with 5.1 surround sound high as a kite. It was awesome and I would highly recommend experiencing it that way.
Wish I could see him live for this tour. Have fun at the shows for whoever is lucky enough to see one.0 -

Yesterday I finished up listening to The Black Keys w/ Rogan from a couple of weeks ago. Patrick can flat out TALK. Holy smokes. He's hilarious, relevant, opinionated, and, with the exception of a pee break, talked for three hours nonstop. Dude was on a serious roll0 -
