Nice!!! Definitely looking forward to hearing these songs on vinyl bluegrass style.
Definitely. Two albums as well. Sounds like one is re-records from his prior albums. He also mentioned in an interview that he was planning on a bluegrass cover album of songs picked by his wife. Wait and see.
Excellent performance! I've been following Sturgill for a while and enjoy his newer stuff but, holy smokes, last night's delivery was right in his wheel house Loved hearing his songs reimagined bluegrass-style
New Cuttin Grass PLUS new Cornell?!?! What a morning!
Both surprises was nice

I LOVE that music in this style and similar styles is doing as well as it is, but I have to admit I scratch my head a bit on how well Simpson is doing compared to some of his peers...not trying to knock him, but it's a bit odd.
So, I've got a Sturgill Simpson record called Metamodern Sounds in Country Music coming my way as part of my VMP Country subscription.
I'm more of an old-school country listener (Dolly, Emmylou, Loretta, Waylon, Patsy, Merle, Willie, Hank, Cash, the Georges, etc.), and "metamodern" doesn't sound very old school to me. I have recently listened to the Margo Price album he produced, and I've gotta say that so far, I prefer her first two records to that one.
So if anyone would like this Sturgill record for $40 (my cost + shipping), let me know. I doubt I'll ever listen to it.
@dankind I might be interested in that, I saw it coming up but am not subscribed. What's the deal with their pressings in regards to quality? Do they cut it themselves, or just re press from the original master?

That's a damn good record. You may want to give it a quick listen.

I’m sure you’re right. It’s like I told pjpitt, I’ll probably “discover” Sturgill in five years or so.
In the initial announcement, I didn’t see Sturgill’s explanation on his new album. I’m even more excited now.
