Hell no. My only objective since it was evident he was going to win the nomination has been "not Trump." With Clinton running, any pull to go 3rd is taken away. I am freaked out at the prospect of him being President. But it's getting pretty real and I think he's probably going to win.josevolution said:

But Hillary, while a weasel and liberal in reputation only, is capable of doing the job. It's not about issues; it's about whether or not these people are capable. And, frankly, whether they want to actually be President and would be dedicated.Post edited by OnWis97 on1995 Milwaukee 1998 Alpine, Alpine 2003 Albany, Boston, Boston, Boston 2004 Boston, Boston 2006 Hartford, St. Paul (Petty), St. Paul (Petty) 2011 Alpine, Alpine

Right - because people who vote Republican usually vote out of fear or because they're fucking greedy (EDIT: oh, and racism...usually the racism stems the fear, but mostly fucking greed). That about sums it up.Smellyman said:Gern Blansten said:

I don't want to debate racism because I think most Republican politicians are not actually racist. Trump clearly is, but I don't think John McCain is, or Arnold, or Rubio or lots of other ones. The answers aren't easy.
But greed is an interesting point so I'm going to get a touch provocative here. Is it greedy to vote in your own financial interest? If your marginal tax rate is 25% and one candidate vows to raise it and the other vows to lower it, is that greed? If the answer is yes, wouldn't it also be greedy if you are lower middle or lower class and you are voting for a candidate because he/she promises an earned income credit, or zero tax rate, or free insurance? Can you really call one greed and the other not?0 -
It depends on the end result. If the end result of a tax cut will be higher deficits and the same candidate promising the tax cut also says he will lower the deficit that is just ignorant.mrussel1 said:

Democrats tend to realize that taxes need to increase and that directly effects their own pocket.
I tend to vote for those that promote legislation that is counter to their own pocketbook rather than those that promote legislation that benefits themselves.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

I'm not so sure that's the main reason why Trump won the primary. I imagine you think the "mouth-breathers" voted for Trump in the primary for the following reasons:Jearlpam0925 said:
Thing is it's astonishing how many mouth breathers roam this country.Smellyman said:Getting the mouth breather vote is easy. About to get difficult for Drumpf.
1) They're racists.
2) They're stupid.
3) They believe his business "success" can translate to the presidency.
4) "He tells it like it is!"
Now look, I'm not saying there aren't people that fall into those four categories because there definitely is. But I can't see how that could translate to Trump receiving the most votes in the history of the GOP primary against a crowded field of seasoned politicians who have been preparing their entire lives for this election.
Here's what I think happened: the majority of GOP voters got sick and tired of having their intelligence insulted. Take Marco Rubio for example. I thought he was so insulting to GOP voters (I'm a Democrat, by the way). It's like he went on google and typed in "Words Republican voters like to hear" and just kept saying them over and over and over. "Ronald Reagan, Constitution, Second-Amendment, Pro-Life, Rinse, Repeat" And I think there came a time where GOP voters said "You know what, Marco? I like those things you mention in your speeches. However, I'm not a stupid dog that you can dangle something I like in front of and think I'll do whatever you say. Fuck you, I'm voting for Trump."
So I think Smellyman is right when he says that the primary was easier for Trump than the general election will be. But it's not because Republicans are stupid mouth-breathers. It's because they're sick of their party leaders' attempts to brainwash them. And Democrats (both voters and party leaders) need to get off their high-horses because everything Trump has done to the GOP could be done by Kanye West (or whoever) to the Democratic Party in four or eight years.will myself to find a home, a home within myself

I'm not for Trump because he is a crazy person, but I do want a candidate that is serious about securing our borders and spending money on the poor people that are in this country already versus bringing in more people solely to boost up the Democratic voter rolls.josevolution said:

No, my main point in my post is to point out the hate that comes from the left for people they don't agree with. I don't call people who support abortion murderers. I understand they have a reasonable argument just like pro-lifers have a reasonable position. When you call a group of people mouth breathers I don't see how that is any less hateful than calling black people or Hispanic people a racial slur. It comes from hate.Post edited by bootlegger10 on0 -
Then they're SOME in this country who want to elect this man as President! I seriously think Drumpt is more interested in protecting his name than taking care of the everyday workers today.Kat said:
