The answer is incredibly simple.

We DIDN'T evolve from apes, we evolved WITH apes from a long extinct common ancestor.
That's 5th grade science.

It makes me sad that we push out so much hard won fundamental knowledge for vacuous entertainment, for inane office tasks and career specific information wholly unconnected to the physical existence of our lives.

Not a judgement, I don't mean to insult anyone, it just depresses me. People don't know where they come from, what they are, or where the tools, foods, and energy they use come from.
Society is in real trouble if life ever gets difficult again.

Since Mr Lux isn't around right now I am doubling down on granola to cover for him!

well if rollings wanted the simplified answer, then yes, I'm sure most people could answer that without research.

the problem is, people blindly follow Rush and the like and it's dangerous. if you have a platform and spew ignorant views, expect to be called out for it.

I get that question a lot from people because they know I am not a believer.
I always answer with "Apes and us descended from a common ancestor and that we are closer to fish than Apes"
I usually get a deer in the headlight look and then I know it's time to walk away. Occasionally I will get someone that agrees and will have a conversation but it's hard to find.

give me a handful of bananas & other goodies & i would walk through the gates of a gorilla enclosure ... i think i would. you'd have to be as calm as you have ever been. look, gorillas in the wild mountains of africa allow ppl to be near & as far as i know no humans are being killed but gorillas sure are dying. a big ass silverback may grab your leg or foot & drag you a short distance, that i've seen on whatever show it was. no one is dying & being ate. sick shits are actually using gorilla hands as ashtrays. people are fucked in the head

Not to be argumentative, I mean I was lucky enough to watch a show specifically about this and how evolution happened for some apes but not others, but to tell you the truth, had I not seen this TV show, I honestly don't know if I can answer the question as to why there are still apes, so I'm curious what knowing this has to do with IQ.

What? Don't you mean sorry apes? We are on top of the evolutionary ladder for a reason. I'm not sure I can think of 1 good reason that a child should die in order to keep a species alive. Extinction is part of natural selection.

Extinction caused solely by overhunting and poaching is a part of natural selection? I don't know about that. We're not talking about a species that is sliding into extinction because they aren't compatible with their natural environment. They are going extinct for gorilla hand ashtrays and so that some asshole with erectile dysfunction can try and get a hard on. There is nothing "natural" about that.
Human are destroying ecological balance because of their greed. Simple as that. Yes, loss of human life is worth saving a species decimated by human greed IMO.
